One fact that many are missing is that there is a Zionist faction that is strong enough in government to make trouble.I am far from an expert on Israel so I can only comment from my point of view. It seems to me that the people of Israel are perfectly happy with the status quo. Leave them alone and they will do the same.
Now some of the leadership they have had (pretty easy to understand who I am speaking about) often see's things differently.
I see the fact that both could destroy each other as a good thing.
There's little doubt that Israel needs more land and what's left of Palestinian declared lands isn't enough. Syria is up for grabs.
The Jewish faction in Israel has no choice but to support the Zionists.
This then becomes the major deciding factor on Iran and it's influence in preventing Israeli expansion. Obviously not the nuclear threat!
It's hardly any different from N.K., who has it's defensive nuclear arsenal and will never attack first.
Yes, I agree that that being able to destroy each other is a good thing. As is N.K. ability to destroy S.K. and vice versa.
