"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights...."
Please show me where it says rights can be 'granted'? Oh... it doesn't. No one can 'grant' you something that you already possess. What we can do, however, is stop government from taking those rights away... at least, we could, if the left would stop doing what's 'best' for everyone and focus on the founding principles of this nation.
No can do. People can't be trusted to make the right decisions, and need liberals to run their lives for them.
When fascism comes to America, it will be carrying a protest sign and screeching, "It's for the children!!"
"When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a cross." - H. L. Mencken
Yeah, he was wrong there.
The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.
– H.L. Mencken
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority.
It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made
to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions.
There are men in all ages who mean to govern well,
but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters
. . . . . but they mean to be masters.
- Noah Webster
There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.
– Robert Heinlein
If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all.
– Jacob Hornberger
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
– C. S. Lewis
