Every so often I get to have a decent policy discussion with someone but it is soon spoiled by the derailment crew here, there is a core group of 5 or 6 "libertarians" who spoil everything they touch, there is no solution since it is exactly the same for every single discussion board on the Internet. It's like the real world where a small group of shitheads spoil everything good by abusing it.
The way to solve that problem is to make use of the
Ignore feature.
This is a relatively well-populated forum. The thing I like most about it is the moderators do not impose themselves like frustrated high-school hallway monitors. They leave the participants pretty much alone, which unfortunately does provide latitude for belligerent adolescents, adult morons, and social cyphers who compensate for their real-world timidity by behaving offensively behind the protective barrier of distance and anonymity. They are for the most part incapable of civil, intelligent discourse and they occur as a waste of time and space.
The way to deal with these annoyances is to simply add them to your Ignore list, which instantly and permanently removes them from your consciousness. Their efforts are eliminated as if they had died. Their pseudonym appears as a single line and nothing more. The effect is analogous to stepping over dogshit on a sidewalk without breaking stride and your overall experience here is vastly improved because you are conscious of and you communicate only with sensible, civil, sociable mentalities.
