Prof's are inciting it, and many are getting paid. Even if the media wasn't pushing them on, they would still be out there. Students are being given a free ride from exams. Of course, they would join the protests to get out of them.

If it was a peaceful protest then no court would accept that argument. Same reason we can't string the media up for it.
