The far left is destroying what was a semi-competitive Democratic party in FL. If that is true nationwide then the Ds are in deep trouble until at least 2034 due to improved gerrymandering and a more conservative judiciary.

Socialism is what the democrats have been working towards for decades. Part of their Trump fury is that they believed they had achieved total power with the close to unanimous election of Hillary Clinton. Total victory and unlimited power was snatched by this non politician. They will do anything to get that power even if it means attacking ordinary citizens on the street.

Damage, yes. Irreparable damage, no. It looks like both parties are going through some sort of metamorphosis, maybe we'll see the birth of a new 3rd party in the next decade or so. If the Dems get their asses handed to them in 2018 and again in 2020, then changes WILL have to be made or the money will dry up. Which they can't afford cuz they're going to be getting less and less from the unions, so I suspect a movement back to the Center somewhat but it depends on how things go in November and again in 2020.

I really don't know what the Republican Party stands for either, less spending seems to be out the window. But at least they're not advocating all kinds of free stuff for everybody like the Soc/Dems are, which is totally nuts. We're on a path to fiscal ruin, it's just a question of which party gets us there quicker.

Watching socialists, Bernie Sanders and that chic from NY who defeated a powerful Democrat in the primaries, campaign in Kansas kind of blows my mind.
Whatever you think of the mess that Kansas has got itself into there is no way the solution is Socialism. And who thought sending two of the most far left people to Kansas was a good idea?

Then you have complete wack jobs like Maxine Waters telling people to stalk and harass Republicans... When did the Democrat party decide to concede their power to the most controversial people in politics? They created the very monster, political correctness & social justice, that is now consuming them. They dare not speak out least they be marginalized as a racist or bigot or worse.
Moderate Democrats and Bluedogs have been completely sidelined.
The pendulum is so far out of kilter that it is seemingly skipping 80% of the swing from left to right and right to left.
