Trump wants to build a 90,000-square-foot ballroom.

Supposedly he needed to remove the East Wing of the White House to do it.

According to Google Maps, it's only 150 feet from where the west wall of the East Wing used to stand to the fence line surrounding the White House greenspace.

They can't go all the way to the fence line for obvious security reasons.

That means the Epstein Ballroom is gonna be 900 feet long and 100 feet wide.

That is both not terribly useable and not what the released designs look like.

Is the rest of the building slated for demolition?

He is probably going to build a massive concentration camp, a Nazi re-education center, a schnitzel restaurant, and a Trump youth recruiting center on the grounds where the WH once stood. Btw, have you noticed the speed with which the demolition (and total literal nazification) of the WH has progressed?!? It is going at LIGHTNING speed; a total and literal blitzkrieg of Duh-Mock_RissEy.

According to WAPO, which I can't really access either, it's going to "dwarf the White House."

don't worry crep.

when your party eventually regains the WH, they'll turn it into something else.

a call center, a bordello, a green house, a bar....

something 'special' to the resident of the building at the time.

Hopefully not....

The white house is an old and deteriorating building that is both highly inefficient and prone to catastrophic structural failure. It should probably be retired to museum status while a new, modern and much more functional building assumes the role of the active domicile.

Yep. Build it in the middle of the country somewhere and make DC a real swamp again.

According to the scale of the model, the problem is symmetry. A larger building which was less than the height of the WH would be better, especially with a West wing to match.
Yes, I can see the symmetry problem.

The East Wing is not a historic structure. Apparently it was constructed during the FDR administration. The West Wing is older having been constructed during the Teddy Roosevelt administration.

The East Wing was a waste of limited space that filled very few functions.

A change had to be made, but as I have said, the scale may not be appropriate.

Relax, crep. President Trump is an experienced developer who has a lifetime of tremendous accomplishments.

I bet the new ballroom will look fabulous.

BTW, why didn't you complain about the B. Hussein O basketball courts that the libs installed?

Actually, the White House is going to be 90,000 sf larger now.
Question, guys. The auditorium is the largest building in a high school. Is it a problem that it 'dwarfs' the rest of the school?

With a big , ugly building that takes away from the grandeur of the original site. No wonder trump fired the artists from the national heritage division. He wants his gaidy building his way.

original site?

the East Wing wasn't a part of the 'original site'. It was added in 1902, and expanded in 1942.
