Is the Democratic Party destined to become the minority party for the foreseeable future? Taking into account the way Democrats have been behaving for the past four years, it would seem so.

In 2016, the GOP nominated a unlikable novice for President who bragged about his sexual exploits to a national television audience. It was the Democratic Party's election to lose. Instead, they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by nominating the worst possible candidate, Hillary Clinton. She was extremely well-qualified, but she had a ton of baggage to heft around during her election campaign, including an FBI investigation into her private server which she foolishly used while SecState.

She had another severe handicap, the independent socialist, Bernie Sanders. Bernie was not -- and is not now -- a member of the Democratic Party, and he felt slighted by the DNC's selection process in which Clinton was nominated. He did not keep his angst a secret. He bellowed it out to his devoted flock. Collectively, they felt cheated and some wanted the Democratic Party to pay.

Thus Bernie Sanders is responsible for Trump.

Please allow me to explain. Trump won because of the electoral votes in three states that were expected to go for Clinton, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Trump won all three states by less than 80,000 votes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...-three-states/

Bent on revenge, incredibly, Sanders' supporters switched their allegiance from a self-admitted to socialist to a dedicated, uncompromising capitalist, Donald J. Trump. 51,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Wisconsin. 47,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Michigan, and 116,000 Sanders supporters voted for Trump in Pennsylvania. Bernie Sanders Voters Helped Trump Win and Here's Proof

Sanders' supporters gleefully admitted they voted for Trump. They were proud they were able to take out their revenge on the DNC.

Is Sanders out to destroy the Democrat's chances again? "This is the political reality of the moment ... we are taking on the entire political establishment, both the Republican and Democratic establishment," Sanders said. Is he calling for an election or a revolution? Will this approach beat Trump? Do a majority of American voters want a revolution? This is something Democrats should be thinking about.

The predominantly white Democratic voters in Iowa chose a gay man and a socialist to run against Trump. The predominantly white Democratic voters in New Hampshire are likely to do the same. Don't get me wrong, while I am not infatuated with the socialist, Sanders, and I hold him responsible for Trump, I have nothing against Buttigieg, and I like what he says. I am just not at all sure that America is ready for a gay President. 63 million Americans voted for Trump in 2016. Most are still around in 2020, and many are disappointed with Trump. But will they vote for a gay candidate? Does the Democratic Party just toss 63 million votes away?

It gets worse. Bernie Sanders took the lead in a national Quinnipiac University poll, overtaking former Vice President Joe Biden. Sanders received 25% support among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, with Biden at 17%. Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg saw a surge in support with 15%.

Yes, it is only one poll, but is it an outlier or a harbinger of the future? Are the Democrats going to nominate a socialist to defeat Trump? If so, they can kiss the independent vote away. There are a huge number of moderate Republicans who want a viable alternative to Trump. If the Democrats nominate a socialist, they can kiss that vote away, too.

Once again, are the Democrats going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

Good God, I hope not. Trump has to be beaten. Our country may not survive another four years of this man and his obvious allegiance to Putin, the man who helped put Trump in office in 2016.

I can understand liberal and progressives wanting to make changes, but they should wait until they control the White House and Congress. It is within their grasp in 2020 if they don't blow it.

Then make changes when they have the power to do so. Right now they don't and they can't.

"Trump has to be beaten". Good luck with that, ya knucklehead. The Dems have NO ONE that has a realistic chance of winning in November. It's that simple.

I think the democratic party is destined to be the once was party forever. They've done so much damage now it's irreparable for all practical purposes and they continue to crater it more each and every day.

The Democrat party has no other way to go. They became the anti-white party several years ago, and continue their goal which is to make whites a minority for the first time in our history. But the real question is, what have they done for minorities besides put them on some social program, tell them it's the white man keeping them down, or that their plight in life is due to slavery, that ended generations ago?

Do they demand that part of the curriculum in schools be learning about investments and finance? Do they go to lower income communities to have seminars on the failures of having children too young and when they can't support those children? Do those seminars also include statistics of crime and poverty resulting from single-parent homes? Do they have police officers teach teens how to interact with police, and why police make the demands of suspects that they do so they don't end up dead in the street?

Hell no. But this is supposed to be the party of the minorities.

Our wonderful Pres. Trump is the best thing to happen to this country in decades.

He deserves to be praised and admired by all citizens for his unselfish service and dedication to the nation.

Only miscreants and malcontents will deny this fact. ....

No. No matter how badly the Democraps destroy themselves in the short term, they will clearly have a growing support among the people, because the people are evil. The democraps are evil, and thus, the public doesn't care.

If they did care, the Democraps would have been destroyed in the 90s, when Clinton, clearly with concrete proof, committed felonies in office, they didn't care. The bottom line is, the good people are fighting pure evil people.

The Democraps know they have the support of the evil. And they are openly supporting the evil. Look at Bernie saying that even the boston bomber should have a vote. What's that say about the people who support him? He knows who his base is.

I hope the DemonRat party dissapears forever from the face of the Earth.

The Democrat party has power because of two groups of people: Government dependents, and victims. If we could rid our society of both, the only time you'd hear of the Democrat party is in history books.

Democrats love victims, and victims love Democrats. It makes sense why they are trying to create more of them. During the Obama years, food stamp usage doubled. They proudly proclaimed that over 20 million people were forced on Obama Care. Those two programs created over 40 million new government dependents alone, and that was not by accident.

This election, their platform is free college and healthcare, even for illegals. More government dependents.

It's unfortunate those who support the commie party refuse to acknowledge this.

It is now a party led by elitist wealthy whites who view minorities ( racial, gender, sex, nationality, religion) as nothing but blocks of votes. Watch how Democrats treat a minority when they don’t vote for them.

Get real ya all. The same was said on this forum about the republicans. Don’t be so sure about anyone’s imminent demise.
Yep, the Democrats were dancing on the GOP's grave with Obama's wins. The GOP was going to be a "regional" party.

Folks love to make assumptions, extrapolations and projections when there are far too many variables to do so.

Then, when their projections go south, they come up with excuses. Human nature.

Political rhetoric: Not to be taken seriously.

I stopped reading when I got to this oft-repeated ipse dixit: "63 million Americans voted for Trump in 2016. Most are still around in 2020, and many are disappointed with Trump."

These op-eds continue to regurgitate this line, despite poll after poll confirming consistent 94-95% job approval among Republicans. Moreover, there were 185 million active registered voters at the time of the the 2016 election. Taking his recent 49% job approval by registered voters, that puts him at a potential 90 million votes this time around, and that's if he only gets the votes of those who approve of his performance. So get a new line. The line "many are disappointed with Trump" is tired and rings disingenuous.

Or as Pogo might put it, "many" could fit in my Tahoe, depending on how this journalist is defining the word. Doesn't make that number significant.

The Democratic party is definitely going to become the party of people without a purpose
But people without a purpose - or ambition - could easily become the majority in America thanks to our leftwing education system

He knows who his base is.
shut yo bitch ass up

Only one party freaks out about changing demographics....only one party freaks out about not attracting enough new voters to replace their dying old white racist base --- and only one party freaks out about the prospects of "HIGH VOTER TURNOUT" and it aint democrats...
