Since the left already has MSNBC and CNN that attract potential SNL viewers 24/7, SNL is just a redundency, from those who have an insatiable hunger for this kind of pablum

SNL is too expensive to produce.

It would be cancelled before the end of the season if they put it on MSNBC.

Without all of the cash coming from progressives and billionaires SNL loses too much money to exist anymore.

Democrats figured out a way to steal from the US Treasury to pay for all of these unpopular shows, and now the money has been cut off.
