Is Putin interested in peace?

Putin doesn't want peace until he can reconstitute the old Soviet Union. He wants to go down in Russian history as a great Russian leader.
There is at least one issue here. Putin doesn't have the economy to reconstitute the old soviet union.
The lions share of what they have is in its military. They have been in the Ukraine for the past 3+ years and have
expended a huge amount in that conflict. They are already relying on other countries for some support.
Not sure if he's willing to engage in an all out WW, or not.

Just not ok with me.

Most Americans feel that way.
No effective political resistance can be mounted under those conditions.

We started to see something similar here. We shall see if that is over now. . .

If not, what's his end-goal?

If he is, what makes you think that he is?

In April 2022 he thought he had a peace deal where Ukraine agrees to never join NATO. Zelenskyy was ready to sign.

Boris Johnson flew to Kiev and ordered Zelenskyy to throw the agreement back in Putin’s face, saying that NATO will fight to the last Ukrainian!

So he invades another sovereign country unprovoked, and your brain tells you that he wants peace?

What is in a Unfortunate there are many people who take one word to mean the worst of anything all the time. Perhaps he is looking for an "exit" with the areas he has won.

He will be once he figures out that pressing forward will be an attack on United States financial interests. He doesn't want any of this...

That's the last thing he wants to see chasing his army's ass across the Western Steppe.

Russia's number weakness is logistics. A large, fast moving, highly trained and lethal fighting force could create a scenario where his lines of supply couldn't keep up with the army's rate of expenditure. It would cause units to be stranded on the battlefield with no fuel, or ammunition where they could be slaughtered in place. We should hoist the black flag.

Your link:

"LONDON -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko -- a close ally of President Vladimir Putin -- warned that the Kremlin 'will never' accept a European troop deployment to Ukraine, as Moscow and Kyiv continue to maneuver for advantage in U.S.-sponsored peace negotiations."

Rightly or wrongly, Putin believes Europeans have every intention of dragging Ukraine into the EU/NATO orbit which a vast majority of Russians regard as an existential threat.

Russia's conditions for peace haven't changed much since 2022:

Peace negotiations in the Russian invasion of Ukraine - Wikipedia.

"On 28 December 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that peace talks with Ukraine would only resume if it recognized Russia's sovereignty over the annexed and partially occupied regions.<a href="Peace negotiations in the Russian invasion of Ukraine - Wikipedia"><span>[</span></a>"

It seems highly likely any Ukrainian leader who agreed to this condition would face another existential threat from his domestic Nazi detractors.

Putin likely thought this war would be done in a few months and we would have peace on his terms. Putin has stated that the break up of old Soviet Union was a great tragedy to him and his goal is to restore as much of it as possible. I don’t think that is rational or realistic but apparently he does no he is not a good General but as he served mostly in the KGB that’s not surprising.

Dear Marc,

Putin has been trying to reach a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine Shit Show since 2014 and before. That's what the Minsk Agreements were, and the US & NATO played along with bad intentions, as revealed by Merkel and others years later. You were probably snoozing when all that happened. The US & NATO prefer warfare to diplomacy because there is more $ in it, for both grifters like Biden & Co and for old fashioned war profiteers.

What makes me think he wants this war to end?

He said so.

What makes me think that he isn't interested in peace?

The fact that he said so publicly right after Lavrov had Rubio for lunch in Saudi Arabia, and the American came away with nothing.

Abolish NATO.

Abolish NATO?

The most successful alliance in history. One that the United States created and championed.

Isolationists and flat earth xenophobes may think that is a good idea. But abandoning world leadership will be disasterous for the United States, and all of the western nations.

I predicted that Trump would destroy the legacies of Roosevelt and Churchill in 2016. I was called every name in the book by Trumpster at the time.

Now they're all cheering for Trump's betrayals.
