is it normal to be scared of wasps and hornets at age 50 ??

Well, everyone’s body responds differently.

I’ve been stung by both on separate occasions and it hurt, but wasn’t “agony” and definitely didn’t last all day.

Maybe you have a slight allergy to the venom or something

I am not sure if I am a total COWARD or normal. We get few WASPS and hornets in Phoenix as their is no water for these demons.

Do most brave normal folks just kill them with a fly swatter or are you a coward like me and have to use a spray at distance. ??

When you see them do you freak out or hardly notice ??

Oddly, snakes and spiders dont bother me. ITs the fact they have access to a 3rd Dimension by flight

I am allergic as **** to those critters’ stings. So, I get the fear.

Funny story. One time, a long time ago, my wife was watching my brother in law and me down on the driveway. As I recall we were washing the car.

Anyway, a bird flew overhead. My peripheral vision caught the shadow. I jumped out of my skin. My wife laughed at me! But my fear was real. I thought it was a wasp.

You aren't familiar with Honeybees then. Come to think of it I haven't seen a single Bee since I moved to the Phoenix area. But Bee stings are very painful, the only consolation is that stinging you kills the Bee, but just causes you pain.

They won't sting you unless you threaten their life. Honeybees are good people. Don't be an ass. Leave them alone

I'd say it depends more on your experience and knowledge than age. I normally don't kill them unless they seem to be a potential problem. If I am by myself, I might even capture them in a jar and let them go outside. If I am at my grandmother's house and figure I can't capture it, then I will just swat it. I would be concerned that it disappears and would get her later.

I will always swat flies and mosquitoes. I like to remove spiders unless they are moving really fast. Then I just step on them. I was once bitten by a small spider and it affected me for two weeks. I liked spiders 'til then, but not any more! Bastards!
