and how much longer do we have to listen to the likes of Chrissy Matthews and Racheal Maddgerbil try to convince us that No One Can Beat Obama? who made them psychics? Lets see who runs first!! OK? Dont these Liberal Anchors have any idea how much gas and food costs? oh, and thats all Bush's fault, right?
Scientists have told us that it is possible...you actually CAN turn the channel. I suggest you do so if you're that bent out of shape at what the commentators are saying.
The election will be extremely close this time around.... We may be looking at automatic recounts in several states due to how close it is.
There are the issues of the economy, the military, the budget which goes hand in hand with both.
There are the other issues such as DADT the GOP will no doubt try to make some hay out of not to mention healthcare and stimulus spending.
Then there is sheer hatred that he's a black man. C'mon, admit it; it's there. Say what you want about how silly that is, a vote on such a silly topic carries exactly as much weight as one cast after years of research now doesn't it.
Add to that the "reverse prejudice" (if you will) that a great many blacks will vote for the President no matter what he does while in office.
We have a surging tide of Hispanics as well.
In the backdrop of all that but absolutely crucial to the outcome of the election is that the most recent census has shaken the Etch-A-Sketch as to make it much more difficult for Obama to retain office. Red states have picked up several electoral votes almost totally at the expense of the blue states. One or two may go purple but Obama has lost states like Texas and Utah already; states that gained electors. You could probably transplat Pennsylvania into the State of Texas and it would still be blood red.
I can't remember a recent election where so many non-traditional factors are going to be keys to the outcome. I think that the real story however would be that the GOP is more than poised to take over the Senate with something like 3-1 as many DEM seats up for grabs as REP seats. You may see reverse coat-tails spurred on by a Senatorial landslide that sweeps the GOP into the Oval Office.
At this point; I'd say it's 50/50 with a slight edge to Obama; just by mere virtue of his being the incumbent and the ever-true old saying that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. I don't think the voting public has any illusions left as to some figure in Washington being able to fix the country's woes; they are systemic and will be here until we change the system by which we live.
