Zone1 Is everyone sick and tired of all this technology yet ?

Absolutely correct.... How many of you know more than just two phone numbers, otherwise by sheer memory these day's ????
Back in the good Ole day's we knew almost all of our family member's and some of our friend's phone numbers by heart.. 👍
I still use the phone number from my childhood home as a password sometimes.

Computer touch screens to order food at McDonald's suck. They take forever to order when it takes 10 seconds to say, GIVE ME A BURGER
Options is the concept.

You can STILL go straight to the counter, like before, and just place your order.

Are you unaware of this ^^^^^^^^^^ ?

Are you unaware that your order will be taken secondary to the cars placing their orders on the machines? They are first. Read all about it last year in a fast-food publication. They will get around to you when they have "time." Meanwhile, you wait in line.

Enough of the apps...

Do you have first hand experience in this situation?

From my experience, the line inside is shorter than the cars in line......most of the time.

Sometimes it is worth getting out of the car and taking that 'release' and placing my order like before.
I have NEVER waited longer than what you suggest.
Then again, I have only gone to McDonalds about once per month.

I live in a small tourist community with about 4 fast-food restaurants that serve through windows with small indoor spaces. The car lines are lllooonnngggg. I don't have fast food over a very few times a year.

With the exception of one of them ( the best one ) they move the cars along very fast. I used to wonder if it would be any faster inside at the counter of the "best one" ( Arctic Circle ) but haven't tried it based upon the article I read and reported on. We tend to avoid those places especially during the tourist months.Too crowded all day long. Love those tourists though as they are what keeps our little coastal town thriving about 5-6 months a year then the beautiful area goes back to us locals and it is heaven once more. ;)

I'm a PNW resident.
Which area do you represent?

Central Coast of Oregon.
I spent years from Elmira to Eugene to Florence to Corvallis to Bend to Golf or play softball around Eugene.

The Smith River rafting to the ocean. Hitchhiking back. If it wasn't so Communist and anti-business I liked it there. Rain too. Light drizzle is good.

Central Coast has that famous Golf course(s). Name?

WOW!!! You had some good times in this luscious but "commie anti-business state". Those are the reasons to move from here......radical activists political agenda ruining, tearing and burning down our otherwise pristine beauty here. Thank goodness I don't live in whats left of Portland. Geesh!

Uh, you are unaware that there is no longer someone at the cash register. Moron, the world extends beyond your narrow mind

Autos helped take horses off of city streets. Think of all the literal horseshit no longer making such a stench! Thank you technology.

I am, by nature, one who likes to dig some for information. I also have a tendency to prefer more immediate gratification. So, things like internet search engines is a natural grove, for me. Again, thank you technology.

I’m kind of heat intolerant. So I am reliant on A/C. Thanks, technology.

But … I do wonder who needs to have a flip phone now opening the screens like a book? Who needs to have to get different charging cables for different versions of the same damn cellphone?

Some things in technology are a bit silly. My belief is that some marketers and companies are making obnoxious choices.
Great reply, so in other words like all of us believe here is that "technology" if created or is used in a manor that preserves innocence, decency, dignity, privacy, and also has a great built in respect for what should be a continuing American moral dignified culture, then yes of course we should entertain great technological advancements always, but we need guard rails installed or strategically placed in order to protect what is good and decent along side of these other technologies that are released without review by our reps and our creator's of these specific very questionable technologies in life.

It is getting worse by the day.

It's attempting to replace the brain power of the average human beings ability to use their brain power in the maximum way that it was designed for.

Otherwise it's making human beings lazy, vulnerable, and easily conned and set up.

It's way to much, and it is becoming unproductive as opposed to being productive in the forms it is taking.

Being bedazzled by it or worse being forced into it's world by very scrupulous people, uhhhh is setting the people up for the fall of the century.

How many are being forced to comply with technology in their job's now ?

How many hate it but are being forced into it or else ?

How many are being asked to give out secure information that was kept close to the chest, and laughingly it being asked for in a way that swears it won't be used or distributed in any way until it is ??

On and on it's all just racing along while creating a disturbance in the security that so many never once even considered to be at risk.

Am I just being paranoid or am I seeing a tech trend that is being idolized until it blows up in the faces of those whom thought it was so cool, and that it could be trusted until they found out the hard way ???

What is your contention?
That you lack Spatial Awareness or Numerical Ability ?
That you want to be an Artist?
You are information Over Loaded?
You are more comfortable if everybody is roughly of similar abilities ?

Are you possibly more anxious and stressed due to an apparently fast changing and more chaotic world ?

I still know almost all of the old phone numbers that my family and friend's had, and it's been year's and year's since we left the old ways of learning for the new.

We as a nation are actually being dumbed down and made dependent by the techs and styles of learning processes of today.

I remember when my wife was a young 20 year old working in a grocery store, and how she could ring up the customer's product purchases on one of those manual type cash registers so fast that it was a skill and art to behold. Yes technology improved that system of machinery, but now we have a new generation of young folks that can't even make change without a device displaying the amount to give the customer back. And good Lord don't let the customer give the clerk 37 cents if the bill was eleven dollars and thirty seven cents, otherwise after handing the clerk a 20 dollar bill. The employee freaks out wondering what to do, what to do ?.. 😆

My family member (who is 86 years young), can do math and percentages on the fly like it's effortless, and this regardless of how complicated the problem might be (she does this right off the top of her head), like some sort of walking calculator. To watch her do this, and then to think about the rudimentary educational system they had back then, uhhhh just proves the loses being experienced today.

Blue light is also destroying eyesight earlier than ever before, but that isn't being reported on like it should be.

On and on the sacrifices go, and with no regulatory action involved because this stuff is moving at lightening speed, especially in a system that is focusing on the wrong issue's almost 90% of the time now. The information highway is becoming littered with dependency and controlled illiterate's, but it is scoffed at because of those who have control of those being controlled by the dark side of it all.

Crack cocain addiction has nothing on this sort of thing, and especially when it comes to our new generation's being groomed and indoctrinated into it or by it all.

Ok Mr. Amature psychiatrist, maybe you can change positions, and now you lay upon the couch and tell the room what you think about the loses that are being documented well these days, otherwise on our youth failing in record numbers, and therefore making them ripe to becoming dependent and controlled by it all ? This isn't about me, so nice attempt at deflection.

Is it a takeover and planned assault by dark forces in a final push of rebellion, otherwise by those who have chosen the darkside as opposed to the light.

To add to this post where I said "along side of" (meaning we need guard rails that are placed in opposition to technologies that are being created or used to push dependency and bad things), in which seeks to indoctrinate a vulnerable society made weak by being led into the lions den by the controllers and creators of certain technologies for those reasons.

That gives you time to think about your life choices, such as eating McDonald's "food."

I still use the phone number from my childhood home as a password sometimes.

I often use the last 4 digits of our phone number from 1956 to 1964 as my pin. I do have a password for something or other which is the name of the city I lived in during those childhood years, concatenated with its 2-digit mailing zone code and state. From our mailing address before zip (zone improvement plan) codes came along. For zip codes that haven't changed over the years, their last 2 digits are the area's old zone code.

I'm not sick and tired of technology, however my chief complaint is that too soon it goes out of date. For example, my prior cell phone worked fine but then it was no longer supported, forcing its replacement. And then sometimes I think things are just over-engineered. I never thought Gillette needed to go beyond their twin blades.
