Is CA dying

people who wish for deaths on others...as Spock would say..."fascinating"....

Yeah, really. Watch how the election goes on gerrymandering. Blue
California can't do what Newsome is threatening. The districting commission is set in the State Constitution by a initiative, five democrats. five republicans and five independents all of whom are required by law NOT to consider politics when establishing/changing districts. If he tries political re-districting, it will immediately be stayed by the courts and overturned since it is explicitly banned.

You don't live in CA. The state is a mess borderline shit hole. 7th largest economy means nothing but good for dick measuring contest. Leftists are acting as if this nation would collapse if there's no CA or illegal aliens harvesting fruits and veggies. I am still waiting for that $5 lettuce head, $7 a pound of asparagus, or $7 for a pound of oranges.
Farm labor is the smallest portion of retail food pricing. Most of the retail pricing comes at the distribution level which is largely mechanized. Farmers always got pennies on the dollar of retail costs. My Uncle liked to live in the country, so he bought a farm to live on, and his neighbor sharecropped it. My uncle was stunned at how little he got paid for the first harvest. His neighbor advised him to invest in a climate controlled stirring silo and sell his grain out of season. That silo paid for itself in just a couple of years (I believe about three or four) and was pure profit thereafter.

so the **** what john?...the quality of life has gone down considerably for many there,do understand what the quality of life is?...everyone with your mindset thinks California is as nice a place to live in like it was 30-40 years ago...California has always had a big GDP thats nothing new john...and yet all that wealth and so much still falling apart, people still struggling to get by....homelessness happening....some crime still getting worse.....people no matter were you go crowds of people...freeways backed up even on the weekends....learn about what the quality of life is john...and yea dont forget to blame all that on trump...
The middle-class people who have made it the world's seventh largest economy are leaving. The movie industry rarely films there anymore, the aviation industry has left, the automotive industry left decades ago, the petrochemical industry is leaving and closing its refineries, with the constant water shortages, farming is dying off, business taxes are only higher in New York, fuel taxes are the highest in the nation, diesel trucks are being banned, diesel locomotives are being banned in areas like the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Most of the military bases have been closed. California is approaching the edge of a financial cliff and when it falls off the government will behave like Detroit did and not lower spending to match revenue.

I lived most of my life in Southern California and loved it, but the un-checked democratic governments have ruined it. I watched California decline for the past four decades and finally had to leave.

I doubt it.

I’ve been hearing right winger fortell the death of California for fifty years.

It’s still there.
And it's been gradually declining al that time. Now even the big, liberal companies are leaving taking their taxes with them.

same with me....as soon i retired i sold and moved...just moving to Nevada i got about an 8 percent raise in the retirement....and a lot less people....

I know Cali well enough having take a grad degree there. Laguna and Carlsbad beaches and their communities were very nice. I liked Fullerton and eastern Orange County.

Any larger city from Phoenix to Salt Lake to Riverside to San Franciso is going to be messy and dirtier. Too many people in one space.

Californias will pass the law.

Do you want 52 Dem congress critters from Cali?
I don't but I don't care either way and I am sure even a leftist like you don't want CA alone to tell the rest of the country what's good them.

It's befuddling. Those living in CA witnessed the transformation of the state from idyllic to shit hole within several decades. Leftists who don't even live in CA tell you the state is great.

It is all ovver Northern CA. Story road. SJ, CA.

Yes, Newsom can do it.

Pass the enabling legislation by referendum, taking effect on the same election day.

Perfectly legal.

thats what gets me people who live 2000 miles away tell the people who live there you dont know what you are talking about...

CA is declining, for several reasons:
Climate change. It is becoming drier and will be fiery for a few decades until there's not much left to burn. The Bay Area could be relatively OK for a smaller population.
As manufacturing returns, less trade passes through coastal ports and terminals. The West Coast is becoming the new Rust Belt.
It became extremely wealthy, with the usual consequences. Bureaucracy grew to the task of spending that wealth. Businesses and residents who can are moving to anywhere else with less bureaucracy.

CA may become unable to pay statehood expenses and become a territory, or just stop governing all the dry abandoned land and let the feds and Mexico decide what to do there.

Sparker makes silly, unsupported comments.

His opinions can be and should be ignored until he gets serious about the subject.

California is the 7th largest GDP in the nation, almost double that of NY.

Not even NY or TX or FL are close competitors economically to CA.

They are 9th, 11lth and 15th.

All that wealth makes the state despite its inadequte state.

You live in or near LV, a violent city. So what?

15th post

We are now arguing anecdotes? :) So you did not like it. I did. But I was on the coast between San Juan Capistrano and Carlsbad.
