One second before death. Damansky Island. March 1969 .
Private Nikolai Petrov, who was tasked with photographing everything that happens during the border conflict between the USSR and China, took a picture seconds before his death.
On it the commander of the Chinese branch Wu Yungao makes a conventional sign with his hand, which is a signal to the ambush to open fire on the Soviet border guards. The camera is found in the coat of the murdered Nikolai Petrov. It was these pictures that became documentary evidence of the first minutes of the battle on the border.
