Insurance Companies Don't Care

This is the main argument that I hear from so many liberals about anything that a business does or any person does and implies that anyone person must do things out of some egaltarian spirit of the community but what community are they speaking of. They can't be speaking community in the sense of private individuals interacting with each other like at a church, town meeting, dance hall, or anything like that but in a grand national scale where individuals who have never met each other must care about each other. Which is why the demand that all motives for all things be based on a genuine feeling that they are being caring for the members of the national community which happens to be all citizens within a nation instead of something that is formed by individuals interacting with each other.

This idea of building a national community was the tenant of National Socialism. Look at what Hitler wrote:

"As soon as this sense extends beyond the narrow limits of the family, the basis for the formation of a larger organisms and finally formal states is created"

What he is saying is that our sense of community extends beyond our family but through the state and the nation that it has power over. Similar things were said by Mussilini and many progressives in America so I wonder when I hear of the complaint that they are doing it for themselves or don't care do they expect our sense of familial caring extend to every citizen in the nation as many national socialist advoacated for?

Who gives a crap what hitler said? He was no scholar. The only reason you quote him is to sensationalize your whitewash of the motivation of those that profit obscenely from the pain and death of fellow americans.

I could have found similar quotes said by T. Rosevelt, Wildrow Wilson, Mussilini, Stalin and other famous communist. The point I was trying to make was not to label liberals as NAZIs (which is not true) but to highlight the nature these kind of governments where societies become giant tribes.

Yes, it is. What you describe is an abnormal society and not one envisioned by the Constitution. What do you think the framers had in mind when they began that document with WE THE PEOPLE?

It meant that the people of the country were coming together to form a nation of laws that they want to live under. People of any nation are not obligated to care for each other because that is a choice people make. The people I choose to care about is a choice I make and there will be many I may not decide to bring into my family of caring but they are still obligated to follow the same laws that I do. This is what a nation is.

Well there ya go. Laws can't possibly please everybody.

Living in a nation of laws where we have to follow them is not the same concept of living in a nation where we are expected to care about one another in almost familial like way. This kind of thinking creates cults and cult personalities that lead those nations. Its what happened to all fascist states in the 1930s.

I believe that a government is a mechanical thing and not a living thing and if you wonder what this is referring to then you should look up Wildrow Wilson's speeches where he said that government was a living thing and not a mechanical thing.

The flaw in that logic is that insurance companies hate to lose, and they spend an enormous amount of effort making sure that they don't, which is why we're even having this huge national conversation in the first place.

Are you saying they go into business not to provide a service for you? I'm sure they can do that but after a while people will not pay them which is why a company that has been around a while probably are not rip-off artist that you seem to think they are.

They are if they're the only game in town.

In a free-enterprise society this usually doesn't happen because if one company is making obscene profit then another will usually spring up to dig into those profits. Eventually enough pop up that those obscene profits of one company get watered down and the prices get really competitive. The reason, I believe, that insurance is so expensive is that it gets trade protections within there states that other companies don't get. It would be nice if you can buy insurance from a company located outside your state but you can't so your selection becomes one or two big companies.

And even if that wasn't true what would happen when the public option becomes the only game in town? Where would you go if Uncle Sam didn't feel like providing people with more health care or if what you think people should get gets voted down? You the individual lose control over what you want because of something being ingested into the government and in this case it was health care.

Its the same with everything else that gets ingested into the government such as education. How do you change what education your kid gets? You have to contact your politician, ague with others who feel different, and face the possibility you might lose your argument thus losing your preference on how your kid is educated. You, the individual, must now share your power of choice with others as your vote over what you want is only a small percentage of the total electorate.

Taking it out of the government gives you 100% choice over what you want because you don't have to hope others agree with your point of view. You can just do it as you see fit and that sounds a hell lot more free than any kind of public option.

The services where they do actually compete, next day/expedited, are far inferior to UPS and FedEx.
Please.

.....sorry Rabbi but you are full of shit.....just like you were in your other post about the PO in another thread....do you realize how many times i get asked by the Fed-x and UPS drivers on my route if so and so still lives here....what apt does this person live at.....i have seen parcels left at vacant houses from UPS for weeks....Fed-x has been known to leave overnite shit at vacant business suites....we get cards from both of them asking if this address is correct,or has this person moved.....the PO delivers their overnight shit just as efficiently as they do....only cheaper.....and if things need to be forwarded...we dont charge to do it....they do....far inferior MY ASS......

Since you blundered into the fray, we gave up using second day delivery of the US Postal Service as it was costly and ended up getting delivered in THREE or MORE days to our customers. First class got it there at the same time and less cost. You guys are good for junk mail delivery and that is it.

our office just grabed a 5,000 dollar a month account from Fed-x BECAUSE they mis-delivered a package TWICE to the wrong place.....it works both ways dont it....and if you are using first class then you are still using the PO......the trouble with those who dont work in the delivery world, you dont realize that FED-X and UPS screw up just as much as the PO.....but since the PO is a govt AGENCY....lets dump on them...the reason i jumped in,in the first place, when i see statements like the moron Rabbi makes....you see a guy sitting at the park,so he must be done and wasting 3-4 hours reading a book.....i would love to see anyone here deliver a full route in a rainstorm or a snow storm and do the last 1-2 hours in the dark....daytime under these conditions is bad enough....and it happens every winter....

I'd love to see how many people and companies are satsified with USPS overnight or next day service vs FedEx and UPS.
My experience with USPS is about like Saveliberty describes.
The USPS is also good for cheap shipping of handguns, although at least once they left the package hanging around the PO for days.

hey Rabbi.....you got me involved here because of what you said about the 4 hour route statement....backing off on that?.....why dont you ask the carriers you see why their routes are only 4 hours long?.....see what kind of response you get then.....

Yes I certainly expect to get a straight answer from people who are goofing off.

I'd be happy with Monday, Wednesday and Friday USPS service. Anything important gets to me other ways already.

OK. There is a certain amount of tribal behavior exhibited by Obamabots. What his detractors constantly display is also tribal in nature. He was truly and rightfully elected by our country. You not caring for the results of the election does make it a bad election. If the moronic talk of Obama being a fraud with insane rhetoric of the birthers thrown in I cannot help but side with a sitting president. He promised he would make some changes..health care reform being among them. As the owner of a few small businesses I recognise the advantages of all americans being covered. The billions having been spent by the HMOs just adds injury to obscenity. They are desperate to maintain the only stranglehold on health care in the industrialized world. They and those that mindlessly have fallen for thier deception will not carry the day. Tribal or not in my view on this issue we must hang together or hang seperately ...in pain..and eventually hoping to die as the Insurance maggots want.

Let's just say I do landscape construction on the side for fun. Nice little workouts with 72 pound block (two at a time, sometimes three). You seem to have left out that with the four digit extentions, much of your mail is pre-sorted. Your just a whiny little puke to me. Sucking government teet.

I find it absolutely hilarious that people are not willing to trust health insurance companies ... yet are so willing to trust the politicians who own them ...

you still have to throw the mail up and much of it is not presorted and we have seen many little whiny pukes like you come in there and whine when they cant do the job....and yea....you lift 3 72 pound blocks at once....bullshit..... your Mexican workers do that for you,you know the guys who actually do the work for you, while you sit in an air conditioned room somewhere, acting like you work.....lazy fuck....do you stick your head out and give orders when its raining?....oh i forgot you cant do that if its raining....you might get wet and catch a cold.....stay inside big boy ....men work in the elements.... pussies stay inside.....

This might hurt the liberal uberwusses on this board but..... companies dont care. Its not what they do.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. I wonder if they think that a nation is a national community that has as almost as much closeness as a family or tribe where everyone is expected to care about each other which is why they demand an eglatarian society.
In his speech to the families of the Fort Hood terror attack President Obama referred to "this great American community." It seemed innocent enough in his intended context, but still, it caught my ear at the time in light of his beginnings. Community is a 'friendly' term, and Americans want it as something that has been lost. His usage of the term elevates it to that same feeling of nostalgia.

One man operation. Usually end the season when ice off the pick axe hits me in the face and results in facial cuts. Sometimes you can get a day or two in around January first, if there is a thaw. You probably wear one of those back braces. The record is four on the block, carried sixty feet. Working a brick saw with a water cooler for the blade, in 30 degree weather, bare handed is a trip too.

The only way to avoid structured curriculum is to home school. And even then, you would want your child to learn the basic 3-Rs, I presume. Currently states and often individual school districts dictate curriculum. I'm a strong believer that ALL children nationwide should be required to have a basic set of studies that will set them on their course to pursue individual interests.

My mail carrier couldn't be more dedicated. I can recall only once when she was unable to deliver mail because we still weren't plowed after a 2-foot snowfall by the next day. Anything less than that, and she will be delivering our mail at 8PM if necessary.
