Yes when you look into the Dutch language there are many cases of English and German influences, it can be confusing.bedankt .... i remember .....
sounds like the German word for thanked
I know Dutch people who have command of English to a very high level, some people have a gift for it, Dutch friend of mine who sadly passed away last year spoke flawless English French and German, his English was without almost no accent, he was an Army Officer so would have mixed with others from different Countries, a intersting story about his Dad who i met, he was also a Dutch army officer at the outbreak of WW2 and was captured by the Germans and sent to a Officers POW camp in Poland, he spoke several languages including Russian, when the Red army liberated his POW camp he was used by them to interrogate captured German Soldiers as they advanced West before being free to join allied forces.Yes when you look into the Dutch language there are many cases of English and German influences, it can be confusing.
I don't think so and remember the Belgians in parts speak Flemish almost the same as Dutch, my friend used to joke Belgium isn't a real Countryone might say that Dutch is just a North German dialect ....
but the Dutch would not agree ....
a little controversial i think.
