As I have stated repeatedly, I am not able to convey the problem as well as Stewart does and that means that my words could be misunderstood. In a debate, the issue (as stated clearly by Stewart) is what should be debated.I understand you feel the video is impactful and well-articulated—fair enough. But asking others to only engage with it on your terms, while dismissing valid requests for a summary, doesn’t foster debate—it limits it.
Not everyone processes content the same way. Some prefer reading over watching videos. Some, like me, are more likely to consider an idea if it’s distilled into a few key points first. If your goal is truly open-minded discussion, why not meet people where they are?
Calling people ‘biased’ or ‘childish’ because they don’t engage exactly how you want comes across as more controlling than curious.
If you genuinely want to have a productive discussion, consider sharing the main thesis or a few highlights from the video. Then we can engage on the merits of the ideas rather than the format of delivery.
I understand that people process content in different ways. As such, you could have taken notes of the content given by Stewart and then researched it to where it is found in a written way. Bottom line, I am not the important thing here, it is the issue that is important and the issue cannot be stated any clearer than the way Stewart stated it.
If debating the issue is what you desire to do, then debate it with contrary information to what Stewart relayed. My job as a debater is to present the issue in the best way possible. It is not my job to do it in a way that is best for you so that you can understand it.
I have the ability to read, listen, and see the information in any way it is given. I(f you do not have the ability to do the same, it is not MY problem.
If you presented an OP in a written format and I stated to you that I could only understand it in a video format, would you find the way to present to me in the way I could understand? I don't think so!
Quit the bitching and either see the entire video or stop the posts where you find ways to not see it.
