The problem with the Civil Rights movement before MLK was that they were too trusting.
Just be patient, these things take time, be thankful for what you have.

There were riots after WWI from black soldiers returning from war expecting to be treated like other veterans

During the Depression, blacks were told times are tough you have to wait. Then during WWII they were told be patriotic. Blacks coming back from war were still sent to the back of the bus.
