'I'm worried it's getting worse': Texas measles outbreak grows as families resist vaccination

'Cases tied to the large outbreak have spread to at least three states.

The measles outbreak that began in Texas before spreading to at least two other states swelled to 355 confirmed cases on Friday — and officials say there is no sign it’s slowing.

“I’m worried it’s getting worse,” Katherine Wells, director of public health for Lubbock, told NBC News.

Many people aren’t getting tested for measles, and efforts to increase vaccination in the affected areas have gotten a lukewarm response, Wells said during a media briefing by the Big Cities Health Coalition on Tuesday.

Wells said she thought it could be a year until the outbreak is controlled.'

When you fervently believe in Trump, you cannot believe in science.
More people died yesterday of obesity than have been infected by measles this year.... But we should definitely be more focused on this.....

Yep. I had the measles as a kid. So did many others. Most survived, but some did not.

I am not antivax. I support vaccines that have a proven record of working and the measles vax is proven to work.

But that does not mean I'm going to violate someone else's right to chose.
Vaccines require a certain saturation level in the community to prevent spread.

Choosing to remain unvaccinated effects everyone around you.

I am the same way.

A vaccine prevents the person who has it from catching the disease.

Covid did not do that because it was never a vaccine.

I'm a pureblood. I never had the shot. My wife had Covide twice. The first time, she took the monoclonal antibodies and they worked pretty well. The second time, she just toughed it out, but like the flu, it kicked her ass.

I tended to her both times and never came down with Covid. Knock on wood But I had a bad respitory incident, bronchitis, in December 2019 and I think that might have been an initial covid infection, but a mild one.

The science is pretty clear. Natural immunity is best, the vaccine is great -- when it is a vaccine -- and herd immunity works to protect the entire community of humans.

Funny thing is, herd immunity is not part of a vaccine. A vaccine is for the one individual only.
OK you are officially and anti-science idiot.

I remember when there was no vaccination, and somehow me and my friends survived
the measles/mumps/chickenpox. It made us stronger with the natural immunity we acquired.
just saying
That's what anti vaxers believe and that's why children are dying. Democrats are just trying to blame Trump for people not getting vaccinated when he has nothing to do with it.

I'm more concerned with the dem's mental health....I suspect their illness will kill a lot more than the measles.

Have they killed anyone yet? There isn't an overwhelming amount of news stories about them killing people. Well none actually.

When you fervently believe in Trump, you cannot believe in science.
When you allow millions of unvetted illegal immigrants into a nation, you have no idea what critters they are bringing in with them. When you have been thoroughly indoctrinated to believe in Biden and the globalist democrats you have no grasp of logic.

Are you afraid of the measles?
