I'm allergic to sand...

KATABASIS, in the sense that I am using it, describes an epic descent into Hell. ANABASIS is the epic journey back from Hell.

"Ishtar experienced Katabasis when she descended into the heart of Irkalla, the Land of no return. The Underworld. She experienced Anabasis as she ascended through the seven Gates of Hell and returned to the Land of the Living."

It can also carry a symbolic meaning by describing a destructive path (katabasis) followed by a path of redemption (anabasis)
