I'm Depressed

Hurricane Irma is making a beeline for Mar-A-Lago.

Trump won't be able to go golfing this weekend, and that makes me sad.:crybaby:
Mar A Lago is closed for the season. I notice he's been spending a lot of weekends at Camp David since the Secret Service announced they were out of money for the rest of the year. LOL
The secret service is not out of money
No, I spoke sloppily. The funds allocated to protect the President, though, are used up.

Yep, they used up their years budget in only 7 months. But, I suppose that if Trump could convince Congress that he needed the security, they could raise the spending limit for his security.

But, that might cause a large problem for the GOP who is interested in cutting down on costs.
Why are they providing security for his family? Don, too, and Eric? Afraid of kidnapping or something?

Actually, they kinda are. They have already hit the spending limit on their budget and we're only halfway through the year.

Secret Service out of money to pay agents because of Trump's frequent travel, large family

WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer afford to pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump's family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast.

Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex'' Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year.

The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it has not relented in the first seven months of the administration. Agents must protect Trump – who has traveled almost every weekend to his properties in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia – and his adult children whose business trips and vacations have taken them across the country and overseas.

Wrong, because they are not allowed to be out of money................

Seriously it's impossible unless the USA has defaulted on it's debt

Maybe he will go to Mar-A-Lago anyway and get killed in the storm. Wouldn't that cheer you up?

Oh, wait....Pence....Never Mind.

I'm buying you an e-drink. Cheer up, buddy.

Come on

Even you would love to see Kellyanne Conway in a hurricane
"The liberal media is turning this big old thunderstorm into hurricane hyperbole!"

You know, considering how high the storm surge is, as well as the fact that his Mar a Lago estate is real close to the beach, I'm guessing that the structure itself will stand, because it looks pretty sturdy, but I'm guessing it will lose part of it's roof and end up flooding quite extensively because of all the open spaces it has.

I heard that lunatic Branson stayed in his bunker down in the V.I. and when he reemerged the only thing standing -- was the bunker; the house was vaproized

You heard right. He had a fortified wine cellar and everything held together okay, but anything outside of his wine celler was GONE......

Richard Branson emerges from wine-cellar bunker after Irma ‘utterly devastated’ his private island

There's just no reason to tempt fate like that; that's just dumb

Well, to be fair, I have done some things that a lot of people would consider "tempting fate". I've ridden a bicycle from Memphis TN to Jacksonville FL, from Jacksonville FL to Newport RI, and from Newport RI to Norfolk VA, all by myself with no support vehicle. I've also bungee jumped, skydived, and zip lined across the Royal Gorge in CO. Many of my friends said I was tempting fate on each of those endeavors, but in my mind, if I have at least a 90 percent survival rate based on the gear I have available and the thing I'm doing, I'll give it a shot almost every time.

Branson knew how well built his cellar was, and probably felt pretty safe about it. And, it really doesn't surprise me, especially considering all the other crazy things he's done, like ballooning across the Atlantic, and all the crazy stunts he did on his show "Rebel Billionaire" when he was looking for someone to take over his company.

That was funny. However, I've never seen a thunderstorm that was wider than Florida and could generate storm surges on both coasts at the SAME TIME!

No, actually, protection is decided by a Congressional committee who decides if he warrants protection or not.

FAQs

  • Who receives protection?

    • The Congressional Advisory Committee includes: Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader, Senate Minority Leader, and one additional member selected by the others

    • Be publicly announced
    • Have some degree of prominence as shown by opinion polls
    • Be actively campaigning and entered in at least 10 state primaries
    • Be seeking the nomination of a qualified party
    • Have qualified for matching funds in the amount of at least $100,000

Some candidates have received protection earlier in the campaign pursuant to Presidential memoranda.
    • What is the history of candidate/nominee protection?
Candidate and nominee protection was expanded to include major candidates for president and vice president in 1968:
      • Major candidates and their spouses began receiving protection after the assassination of Robert Kennedy in 1968. PL-90-331 was passed June 6, 1968. (Language since adopted into 3056).
      • Prior to this event, candidates and their families did not receive Secret Service protection
      • Protection of a candidate/nominee is designed to maintain the integrity of the democratic process and continuity of government

In that he determines where he goes, when, on unofficial trips, he does have some responsibility for the Sec. Service burning through their funds before the year was up. It is very expensive for them to follow him to Mar A Lago, his golf clue in Virginia, etc. It's a real circus securing those locations for him and he was doing it about every weekend. That costs money.

Dude you are wrong, Presidential candidates get secret service protection before they are even elected, during the debate phase. No one approves this, it is law
