But of course this means that interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve may be further away and less numerous than many have hoped. That in turn suggests a challenging year for financing government. While the president spends much of his time casting his political adversaries as enemies of the state, it may be easy to forget about his continuing success in driving America toward the edge of the financial cliff.
