A bit too silly. It's as though you think those projectiles accelerate into the air, defy gravity, and remain suspended in the air once its acceleration has been spent.
"Everything" that projectile comes into contact with in whatever direction given ....... "is destroyed". THAT is its purpose. The phrase "plug a hold in someone" is an idiom. That projectile doesn't plug any holes - it makes holes.
