If the pain will never stop, I don't blame someone for killing themselves. Have you ever been in so much pain you said to yourself "If I had to live like that for even 1 day I'd kill myself"? I have. My dad is constantly saying he wishes you could go and take a pill and it puts you to sleep and you never wake up. With doctor assisted suicide the mentally ill patient would be SEEN by a doctor. So actually, if the mentally ill person goes to see a doctor that's a good thing. The doctor will catch that they are mentally ill.

I tell my dad they wouldn't kill him even if it was legal and he went in to ask. He's not terminal and he's not in pain. If my dad went in they'd probably tell him he has to see a psychiatrist first. Which we've been telling him to go see one for years. He won't. He says "what are they going to do?" And I yell "WHAT THE **** AM I GOING TO DO FOR YOU?"

Some family members think their love ones are their therapists. They dump all their problems on family instead of seeing a shrink.

Currently, I will not be killing myself. But, if I ever get a stomach ache like I got earlier this year and it lasts 24 hours or more and no medication will make it stop? No promises. Of course I'll go to the hospital and do whatever I need to do. Explore all other options first. BUT, if that pain I experienced won't go away, I'm killing myself.
