If Trump loses, expect a Republican civil war

Conservatives can read the tea leaves and are starting to consider what the Republican Party will look like after a Trump loss. Conservative writer and Bush campaign creative team director is predicting a Republican Civil War if Trump loses.

Questions:
1. Does Trump go quietly if he loses?

2. Who can pull the Republican Party back together after it has been defined as a party of personality?

If Trump loses, expect a Republican civil war

To have one family in complete control of a major national political party is an aberration in our country. Daughter-in-law Lara Trump, installed as co-chair of the Republican National Committee in March, naively spoke the truth in February when she said of its fundraising, “Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC — that is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States…”

That aside, a Trump loss inevitably means an internal civil war within the Republican Party. I believe a “war” is inevitable between the all-powerful Trump forces and those who want to move on from the Trump era and win the White House in 2028 without any Trump family members on the ticket.

Like all civil wars, this one could be brutal, because the GOP opposition forces see in Trumpism a political dead-end with a shrinking voter base. Today, identifying as a Republican is not about conservative governing principles but automatic loyalty to Trump, with his MAGA troops in control of the party machinery from top to bottom.

So who would it be? Some names are familiar and obvious: Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who each look in the mirror and see a future president. Add a new name with popular Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who has had a contentious history with Trump — haven’t they all, though? That experience will embolden these leaders to forge a new path for the party, maybe led by one of them, or else a new leader will emerge.
Great!
A Republican civil war guarantees Democratic rule for the foreseeable future.

Ain’t gonna happen.

For a civil war to take place, you’ve got to have deeply held beliefs. Blob supporters have zero principles, no scruples, and will vote for whomever is running against the Democrat.

Trump said his government would pay for IVF--an elective procedure that regularly costs $15,000+. The blob supporters...all for this unconstitutional and expensive procedure of choice. The day before the announcement? Not one was stating that IVF should be government funded.

I am hoping they reform, but do not know if they can. As a normal conservative party, they have shown to be a farce, with their support of Trump, becoming the party of Trump. The only reason they still call themselves Republican is for financial support, due to name recognition.
Any real party will have to remove MAGA by root and branch in order to start anew

antifa said they're going to come out into the rural areas and hunt us down.... :laughing0301:

That's a good way to get shot in the face and hung over a barbed wire fence as a PSA....

They're training as we speak.....

Antifa said that? When? Where?

Sounds like you’re just looking for an excuse to be violent

Maybe, maybe not. I guess we will see more clearly after the November election.

No one who actively supported Trump should be allowed to simply turn the page and carry on.
Every one of them would have happily endorsed and implemented project 2025.

That kind of rot needs to be removed.

Trump is so going to lose. Bigly. A beautiful thing.
Watch what people do not what they say.... the democrats are nervous.... you can smell it... Trump got 76 million votes in 2020 and without mass mailing of ballots and drop boxes he will win this contest in a landslide...

They came back from the Nixon Debacle in short order
Nixon was different. There were actual conservatives in the party, and they could not abide what Nixon did, either. Actual conservatives have retired, or been primaried, in favor of trumpers. There is no getting around the fact, that at the national level, it has become a pretty sick party. With little regard for American values, other than winning at all costs, they have shown willingness to support, even loudmouthed vile, even criminal assholes without batting an eye, as long as they help achieve or maintain power.

It will not be removed, at least not immediately, but if it is shown Trumpism does not continue to work in the long run to get and maintain power or even balance, legitimate candidates will find a better place in that party, or that is my theory whether correct or not. Remember, this was a good party, that did a lot over the years to maintain equilibrium, tamp down radicalism (of both sides), support the constitution, support foreign policy and our place in the world (as least up to 2001). On the local and state level I often still vote for Republicans, as at lower level, they exhibit conservative values, management, and demeanor. It is just getting more and more rare to see one worth a crap in any national office, be it House, Senate or of course the presidency.
