By "1000 jobless Democrats" -- I'm assuming you're referring to governors and Congress critters and State Legislators -- not coal miners.. Right?

Democrats forgot to actually address the problems that Americans thinks it's their job to care about. Could happen to any Repub prez as well. Because BOTH parties are all hot air and focused on winning more than governing.
