If the media didn't circle the wagons around the Kennedy clan and if JFK wasn't murdered he would have gone down as one of the worst presidents in history. The "Warren Commission" wasn't established to uncover evidence in the JFK assassination, it was established to cover the asses of the federal agencies. It isn't so much that JFK would make a big deal out of sending troops to Vietnam but his negligence and inattention to issues and his reliance on the CIA (and his quirky brother) would lit half a dozen fires throughout the world. JFK wasn't the hero that pop-culture and a biographer employed by his father portrayed him. He was a sloppy Sailor who got booted out of Naval intelligence and the only PT Boat skipper in the entire war who was run over while sleeping in the shipping channels.

Had it not been for kennedy,the civil rights act NEVER would have been passed by LBJ. LBJ was a racist,everybody knew that.He never had any interest in civil rights. He only passed the bill because he wanted to make sure he was remembered as a great president.

Frankly, Kennedy should receive more credit for the Civil Rights initiative due to the fact it was his idea! Likewise, the difference between JFK and LBJ concerning this issue is that Kennedy acted for Civil Rights because it was the right thing to do; Johnson only finished the process in order to obtain more African American voters to the Democratic Party. Besides, had Kennedy not died, LBJ would not have remained as Vice President beginning in 1964. He would have been convicted of multiple crimes with no political future on the horizon.
