A philosophy, if one can give it the compliment of such high classification, of the modern American left is to immediately cancel or destroy anyone or anything who is provably (or not) less than perfect or flawless. I find this tendency of leftist ideology to be particularly loathsome and craven on a very deep personal level.
Take the American left's treatment of Donald John Trump. Our President is not a perfect man. He hasn't even been a "good" man all his life. According to some reasonable moral standards he might not even be a decent man. Nevertheless, Donald Trump is a man who finds himself very suddenly at the reins of the history of human civilization. Whatever he does next; next minute, next hour, next month—could very well change the course of history forever and determine whether or not our nation and the human race survives. He's been locked into this grand scale fatalistic life or death state of existence for nearly four years. Four years of every waking moment spent risking the fate of the entire species, and we're all still here, speaking to us as a national people, civilization and still surviving race, the human one. Thus his actions and ultimate character must be judged not on his past or present person; his history or personality, but on his ability to hold perhaps the most important and vital job (and stressful one) in the entire world, without killing us all.
But rather than see the whole picture which is Donald John Trump and treat and react to it accordingly, the American left would rather cancel or destroy this man who holds the planet in his hands, while he actually still holds it. This is the way of modern leftism: to destroy the flawed, the imperfect; the HUMAN, and to simultaneously seek perfection, even knowing no such perfection ever did or can exist. Another contradiction.
What the American left is doing is finding and exposing flaws in the people and ideas and institutions which threaten its power or ideological supremacy, and then using said flaws to shame otherwise overall priceless people or people who believe in "flawed" concepts or objects or icons, into doubting and ultimately drowning in self-applied humiliation.
Take the nation that is our United States of America for a second example. The core fundamental foundation or philosophical bedrock of our nation's founding is this: individual freedom, liberty, personal responsibility and equality in the eyes of our Creator, from birth. Prior to the founding of the United States, the sole philosophy that praised or even recognized the idea of individual rights and the unique, individual mind independent of whatever social group, was Christianity, or to be more precise, Christ himself. Many philosophers, poets and scribes romanticized the concept of individual agency within the greater mass of a society, but never saw their musings brought to fruition in the form of an actual government until the USA was founded.
The USA is not a historically perfect, flawless, righteous nation; what the USA is, is the damn best alternative to every other nation since time immemorial which has preceded it. Again, if one closely examines the overall history of our nation one will clearly see how its merits for the survival and advancement of human civilization far outweigh any of its flaws, or harm done against the forward march of our species.
But the American left doesn't want to see the whole historical picture of America. The American left would rather cancel and/or destroy our entire nation for the flaws it dwells upon and endlessly rants about. Once again, the left claims to seek ultimate perfection while overtly and loudly preaching, through postmodernist thought, that nothing is absolutely one thing or the other, ever. Another contradiction.
Can we all see where this is going? Huh? Can we? Even if the American left reigns victorious by election or revolution, no person it can find to champion as it's leader nor institution nor ideology it can create, can ever be allowed to survive because by its own fundamental philosophy, imperfection and flaw must be cancelled or destroyed; suicide.
During Christ's short life the devil taunted him many times. Perhaps the most devious tactic Old Scratch ever used was finding and dwelling on Christ's own personal failures and flaws for the premeditated purpose of causing to grow within him deep self-doubt and so much humiliation Christ would (hopefully) give up and run and hide until his dying day. But Christ saw through this satanic tactic, realized that he was more than the sum of any of his flaws or imperfections, and the rest is history.
Whatever else we Americans do in the near future we must not let the democrats or radical American left cancel our voices or destroy our resolve to fight for our own and our nation's survival. We're all flawed; we've all made mistakes. No one among us is perfect. Why? Because we're human.
