when they went after the confederate flag, they said JUST THE FLAG - JUST REMOVE THE FLAG FROM PUBLIC PROPERTY!!!!

If we take down every confederate statue and flag you would have to take down every MLK Jr and civil rights monument as well. Because without slavery and the confederacy there is no civil rights movement.
These confederacy monuments are important because they remind us of our history and if those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Demand for African slaves did not wane after the decline of the mining industry in the second half of the 18th century. Cattle ranching and foodstuff production proliferated after the population growth, both of which relied heavily on slave labor. 1.7 million slaves were imported to Brazil from Africa from 1700 to 1800, and the rise of coffee in the 1830s further enticed expansion of the slave trade.

Also it was Johnson who signed amnesty after the War and stopped the ongoing treason charges members of the rebellion were facing.

What? I mean you could say the same thing about anything with that. "If American's really cared about illegal immigration, they should want to build a wall around Turkey's border instead..." or "If American's really cared about too high of tax rates, they should focus on Belgiums tax rates instead"

Just remember every time blacks see the confederate statues, they will remember what the white man did to them as well. Ifs not just a reminder for the whites. Maybe they should leave them up.
