The social security and medicare problems are going to have to be addressed some time soon and these are a few ideas on what to do.
Most of us pay the social security deduction on 100% of our income. Remove the cap on SS deduction. Everyone can pay on 100% of their income
If you need a power wheelchair buy it yourself. If you can't afford it use the manual chair. Stop medicare payments for power chairs unless disabilities require it. Overweight won't qualify.
Stop medicare payments for new hips, knees, elbow' and what ever joints they can now replace. If you can pay for it yourself fine but no government payment. These are not lifesaving surgery's.
Any surgery paid for by medicare should be a lifesaving surgery. All other surgery's should be paid for by the patient or private insurance.
It seems the entire population to America expects the best medical care money can but without paying for it. It's not the problem of everyone else if you can't afford it. Medicare will pay for anything to save your life, if you want to be more comfortable you have to pay for it.
Before you accuse me of being young and insensitive I'm 64 and have to sign up for Medicare this year.
