Cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid – Trump cannot be trusted or believed

‘Trump has again insisted that he won't be touching Social Security benefits, alongside Medicare and Medicaid, and instead will be looking to remove "tremendous fraud" from the system.

Why It Matters

Social Security benefits are a vital source of income for tens of millions of Americans. An estimated 53 million retirees—roughly 16 percent of the population—were collecting monthly payments at the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, Medicaid is the largest program providing medical and health-related services to low-income individuals, and Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older, and for some younger individuals with certain disabilities or conditions.

The president's update also comes after the House Republicans' budget, which critics believed would result in the "gutting" of Medicaid, was passed in the House, ramping up the concerns that the new administration would make major cuts to the health program.’

The ludicrous notion of a criminal president and pathological liar with 34 felony fraud convictions looking for ‘fraud’ – we’re supposed to believe that Trump would veto legislation with cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Social Security fear mongering is the oldest trick in the Corrupt Democrat Cult's playbook.

RE: Multiple replies.

Increasing revenue != Reducing Debt.

If you raise more revenue but spend more, debt increases.

It's sad I have to explain that.

The only cuts Trump is making to those programs is to cut all the illegal aliens Biden added to their rolls. If we can get those 20 million out of here, we might get back to solvency. The only problem is, our Democrats.

You are so concerned about SS, support no Federal tax for retirees drawing on SS.

You know that Federal Income Tax for SS benefits above certain limits (which are very low) goes back to the SSA to pay current benefits.

Exempting them from Federal Income tax means SS revenue decreases, money to pay benefits drawn from the Trust increases, and the Trust is exhausted sooner. Once the Trust is exhausted then benefits will be cut by about 25% to match revenues, but since revenues will be lower the reduction would probably be more in the 27%-30% range.

Interesting westwall, you disagree. Could you be specific?

Do you disagree that Federal Income Taxes on SS Benefits go back to the SSA to fund benefits?

Maybe it's that the Trust Fund is projected to run out in 2034?

Maybe it's that once the Trust Fund is exhausted that benefits will be reduced once benefit payments rely on current revenues only?

Or Maybe, it's that once the Trust Fund is exhausted that benefits will be reduced once benefit payments rely on current revenues only and that if we reduce revenues (be exempting SS benefits from Federal Income Tax) that the reduction will be larger?

So what specifically do you disagree with?

Unfunded liabilities.

Correct. Proof?

Just read any transcripts of Trump in depositions or in court cases

What a pyramid scheme. Needs to be fixed.

How are they being rewarded by being taxed less, but still more than everyone else?

Estate tax shouldn't exist...period.

No way on removing the cap on income subject to Social Security tax. That is absolutely absurd. It is a HUGE tax increase on the group that already pays the vast majority of taxes. A self-employed business owner making 276k/per would be paying an additional $12,400(12.4%) in SS tax alone. Completely absurd idea, only supported by those that don't care because they aren't affected.
You are ignoring the problem. If one man made all the income, would it be unfair if he paid half the taxes? More people need to make more income, and pay taxes. Rich people should not be paying damn near all the income taxes, but they damn sure shouldn't be earning all the income either. It has to be addressed at core levels. The entire system has to be restructured.

Take the estate tax. I mean you got to lose the step-up if you don't have an estate tax. I can see that happening, with limits.

That money goes into the general fund. Like it has for several decades. Social Security has hundreds of billions of dollars if not trillions in IOU's from the federal government.

No it doesn't. Money paid as Federal Income Tax to SSA goes to back to the SSA to fund current benefits.

Tecnically the income tax on the first 50% goes to fund SS benefits, if there are additional taxes (the other 35%) based on 85% being subject to tax - those funds go to the health insurance portion of SSA.

They should not be punished for being rich, but neither should they be rewarded.
Is it your money or theirs?

The left believes that letting the tich keep some of their money is a gift to them

You may see yourself as part of the downtrodden poor and entitled to something from the millionaires

But if you have a pot to piss in that makes you a rich yankee compared to the migrants who dont even have that

So whats yours is theirs too

this was done at the state level, not by Biden, and only a few states.
This means any cuts Trump makes will be to citizen benefits.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

President Trump and DOGE have NO POWER TO DO ANYTHING TO SS OR MEDICARE! Jesus Fucking Christ, why is this such a difficult concept to understand?

They are not part of the budget, but are funded separately through payroll taxes. I understand why Leftist "influencers" lie about this, but NO LITERATE AMERICAN should be fooled by this bullshit.

As for Medicaid, Biden expanded it to cover people who are too lazy to work. Those people might be getting a surprise. Otherwise, Medicaid is primarily a State matter, with funding support from the Feds.

Take it up with Elon Musk.

Please read. There is little or no fraud.

Stop the nonsense about 125 year olds who are alive (they are not) getting checks.

I see what you're saying. You're saying that you want Trump to cut the programs but that we shouldn't believe him when he says he's going to do it.
