I don't think that's how illegal immigration works. Illegals don't look at fiscal data and be like, "Hmm, the economy looks good this quarter. I think I will try and sneak in now". No. They are drawn in a very broad, general sense, to the halo that surrounds your country. To them, the US is the land of opportunities, the land of honey and milk and all that. Even if her economy is temporarily down, the illegals would still want to come. You don't know what you are talking about.

Actually that IS how it works and there are lots of studies on it. Don’t get me wrong, war and other conditions drive regional migration but the ovrerriding factor is the US economy. Here is are several studies that quantifies it.
