ICE and dealing with illegal immigration is more important to Trump than stopping general crime in the U.S.

Trump has approved more funding for illegal immigration than for combating general crime in the U.S.

AI Overview

The recent "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" passed under the second Trump administration allocates an unprecedented amount of over $170 billion to immigration enforcement and border security. This funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is significantly higher than previous appropriations and eclipses funding for other law enforcement and humanitarian agencies.

Comparison to Other Appropriations

The Trump administration's ICE appropriations compare in the following ways:
  • Compared to other federal law enforcement: The total funding for immigration enforcement (including ICE and CBP) exceeds the combined budgets for all other federal law enforcement functions, such as the FBI. ICE alone receives more money than any other single U.S. law enforcement agency.
  • Compared to previous ICE budgets: The bill more than triples ICE's annual budget. ICE's annual funding increases from approximately $10.4 billion to an estimated $29.9 billion or more annually. The funding for detention operations has increased more than 400% since FY2019, with plans to expand capacity from around 41,500 people daily to at least 100,000.
  • Compared to state and local police spending: The total $170 billion for immigration enforcement over four years is more than the annual expenditures on police by state and local governments across all 50 states and D.C. combined.
  • Compared to military budgets: The total amount appropriated for immigration enforcement is larger than the annual military budget of almost every country in the world, except for the United States and China.
  • Compared to humanitarian/adjudication systems: The massive increase in enforcement funding significantly outpaces funding for humanitarian protection and immigration courts. For example, the amount allocated to immigration detention is nearly three times more than the entire adjudication system for removal and asylum claims, contributing to massive case backlogs. The bill also caps the number of immigration judges while mandating the hiring of thousands of new ICE and CBP agents.
  • Compared to labor enforcement: The funding for immigration enforcement is reportedly 80 times higher than that for labor standards enforcement.
This funding is intended to support an unprecedented mass deportation campaign, expand the border wall, and drastically increase the capacity of the immigrant detention system.

The problem with the above is the following:

AI Overview

Studies consistently indicate that U.S.-born citizens have a higher crime rate than undocumented immigrants. Undocumented immigrants have substantially lower crime rates across a range of felony offenses compared to native-born citizens.

Explanation
  • Lower Crime Rates for Undocumented Immigrants: Multiple studies, particularly those using extensive data from the Texas Department of Public Safety (one of the few states that logs immigration status), found that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a significantly lower rate than native-born Americans.
  • Specific Crime Comparisons: Relative to undocumented immigrants, U.S.-born citizens are:
    • Over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes.
    • 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes.
    • Over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes.
Why is this happening? Isn't controlling all crime what our government should be funding, rather than just illegal immigration crime?

I guess it is all about Trump trying to make a statement that feeds his voters, rather than making a statement that he is fighting crime. He talks big but his stick is small.
I think it's neat how Trump operates local and state police force now. Golly libs you were right, trump's a dictator, way to go dumbcucks

Trump acknowledges 'inflation is back' but blames Biden

Feb 19, 2025 — Trump on Tuesday night appeared to blame inflation on Biden's push for a “Green New Scam,” although it wasn't exactly clear what his claim ...

Now use supply and demand while noticing Trump is deporting millions of illegal aliens who will
no longer be in the US housing market.

And of course, wasting trillions of dollars to make energy less reliable and more expensive will also increase inflation.

The reality of the world situation is that there is a lot of hunger, unfair persecution, and little chance of it turning around. Running away from one's country is the only form to escape that. We as a country, have enough space to where adding population can still be done without causing harm to us, We are a country of HOPE and better living conditions that what other countries offer.

Having said that, we should never have open borders, meaning that those that come here need to be hard-working people with true and well documented instances of unfair persecution in their countries or living conditions that are not livable. They need to show that they would be a positive to this country and not a negative. When that happens, the number of people coming here that we could accept, drops dramatically from the number presently coming here.

We have always been and should always be a beacon for justice, caring-for-others and for Democracy.

What needs to be done, which Trump is not doing, is use a scalpel (instead of a hacksaw) to impose our rules on who we can accept and who we cannot. That is the way it has been done for decades before and it has "generally" worked for the benefit of ALL. Illegal aliens should not be here ILLEGALLY but even so, generally speaking they have done more good than bad (paid their taxes, helped us do the jobs that Americans do not want to do, and contributed positively to the economy).

This is not a Black and White issue but a gray one and should be treated as such. This Trump and the Far right idea that illegal aliens should all be deported no matter what, is simple stupidity and total non-caring about what is happening all over the world that no one can do anything about (such as an exploding growth of people that the world will not be able to feed all, in the not too distant future).

Running away from one's country is the only form to escape that. We as a country, have enough space to where adding population can still be done without causing harm to us,

Not at the moment. Call back in 10 years.

A puppet does what his master tells him to do and never questions anything. He is a puppet
You mean like, take the covid shot? Failing to call him out on the Reiner BS, recognizing he's a playboy, stuff like that?

Many of us are independent, that's why we're conservative. You don't see us voting for dementia and giggles, you don't see us protesting no-king's day(s) by the millions, not a one can articulate why. Nor the assassinations, tearing down streets, ******* with law enforcement, under spell of mass hysteria, all provoked by your teachers for story time aimed at fools, turnips, crazies and ignorant. Don't project.

No one is the housing market, Q-NUT.
Thanks to your dear leader.

That's not only energy but everything he interferes with.

Deported illegals are no longer in the US housing market.

Trump ended most of Biden's wasteful green energy spending.
Now we can get back to cheaper, more reliable fossil fuel energy.

A dishwasher or landscaper has the $$$ to buy a $500,000 house?
Or even the down payment?

Crime rates in America are at an historic low since Trump took office

He’s a real hero

Right. They add to demand which causes prices to rise.

They should be coming down right?
Trump is getting rid of millions of illegals, right?
