Stalin was so ready for the war that Hitler was literally at the gates of Moscow within six months of the war starting.
Stalin's war preparations were awful
Napoleon began his invasion of Russia on June 24 and led his army to the gates of Moscow on September 12.
Hitler began the war on June 22 and was 25 kilometers from Moscow on December 5.
In other words, Napoleon, without cars, tanks, planes, or other fast vehicles, managed to cover on foot the
same distance three (!) months faster than Hitler.
But according to the Barbarossa plan, Hitler planned to complete the defeat of the Red Army in three months in 1941 and reach the Arkhangelsk-Volga-Astrakhan line (the so-called “A-A” line). The plan was to destroy the main forces of the USSR in one blow, capture Moscow, Leningrad, and industrial areas, and prevent the troops from retreating beyond the Urals. Need I remind you that this plan failed? Obviously and unfortunately, yes.
In your opinion, is this evidence of Stalin's poor preparation?
But maybe someone else was better prepared than the USSR for war with Hitler or Japan? Name them.
And since it is impossible to find such countries, all that remains is to justify oneself, like Goebbels, with the machinations of “General Frost” or, in your case, “General Distance.”
Only your excuse is even weaker.
It is difficult to predict the temperature of the coming winter, but it is easy to find out about distances in Russia by just looking at a school geography textbook for elementary grades. Find out and prepare accordingly.
And if you didn't prepare, knowing about the distances, you shouldn't blame the russian long roads, russian leadership and comrade Stalin personally. He did everything he could and even more.
