This day in 380 AD, in Thessaloniki, Emperors Theodosius I, Gratian, and Valentinian II issued the edict “Cunctos populos,” which prescribed the forced conversion of all subjects of the Empire to Christianity.Yes they...forced people to convert to Islam at the tip of their swords everywhere they went. This is how Islam spread.
Christianity became the official and only religion, and the period of religious freedom came to an end. The following year, the edict was supplemented with sanctions against heretics and pagans.
And that was only the beginning of the peaceful spread of Christianity.
