The vast majority of those $3billion are subsidization credits which go to our own arms and munitions manufacturers, to fill Israeli orders for equipment.
And that doesn't even cover the large orders that the Israelis place with us, that they pay for, out of their own funds.
Like any country, the Israelis have several sources for their military hardware, and several sources for the funding for such purposes.
The cheerleading section for Militant Islam would like us to believe that the US tgaxpayer is equipping the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
The truth is that we contribute to their arms and munitions development and procurement, but we do not control it nor even dominate it.

Israel has a conscript Army, training can go so far, it likes to bloody the troops every so often (in a way that is not too dangerous) what better than to pitch them against the civilians in Gaza?

Look, I also read that Hamas gave Israel 1 hour published warning of intent to strike Tel Aviv so everyone could take cover.
