One day after launching strikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and embroiled the region in war, President Trump told me this morning that the country’s new leadership wants to talk with him and that he plans to do so.
“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner. They waited too long,” Trump told me in a phone call from his Mar-a-Lago resort shortly before 9:30 a.m.

This may surprise trump devotees, many of whom won't believe this, but I wish we could trust anything coming from the regime regarding.......well........anything. But we can't.
Don says the Iranians should have agreed to talk sooner. Has he already forgotten they were talking to the US? That's if you consider any sort of serious negotiations could have been taking place with the US being represented by Ivanka's husband (who was in charge of Middle East peace not so long ago) and one of trump's golfing buddies. Iran having offered to make a deal that exceeded the terms of the JCPOA with respect to uranium enrichment.
The thing is there has to be two willing parties to reach a negotiated deal. But while Iran thought it was negotiating the terms of its nuclear weapons development Don had already decided he favored war over any alternative that could be settled through talks. Of all the skins he has shed during trump 2.0 he has shed his non-interventionist one for that of a war monger.
