My oldest Son who is retired and is a good Republican taught me something today that is new to me.

Aging includes changing eyesight. He had me look at a can of Campbell Chunky soup at the very tiny print on the can. I was not able to read it with no glasses on. He shined a very bright light on the can and suddenly the words were clear to me. So if you can't read very tiny print, shine a very bright light on it and see how your vision improves.

Yup...I have noticed that...or bring it out into the sunlight. There is nothing brighter than direct sunlight.

I also noticed some fine print I couldn't read because it was blurry to me...but when I high-lighted it with a yellow highlighter I could read it clearly.

I own an ultraviolet flashlight and after reading your post used it on tiny print. It really made tiny print readable.

That's the 'pinhole' effect. The light causes the iris to close sharpening the focus of the eye. Looking at fine print through a tiny hole held up to your eye gives the same result.

That's why I carry one of these in my bathrobe pocket: 320 lumens and rechargeable You can take the mounting bracket and end cap with the pressure switch off and put the regular end cap with the button switch on it. It comes with a 3.7V lithium-ion battery and charger, and is fairly small but very bright.

I bought three of them back when they were $20. One is attached to a 12 gauge shotgun and another is attached to my AK-47.

Or just to to Walmart. They have several LED flashlights in the 300-400 lumen range for $20-$30 dollars. I just like the rechargeable ones.

I have a flashlight too that is super bright. I never tried to use it to read super tiny print. Mind you I pass tests at the DMV for sight. But super tiny print is very hard to read. Then I shine now that I know about this, even my Ultraviolet flashlight does a good job.

That is what my son told me today. He said that the semiconductor industry depends on that to print circuits on material used for semiconductors.

It is being recharged right now. I know about that. I did not know using bright lights makes print you can't see into print you can easily read.

Yes to surgery. I had it done to both eyes. And it was like a miracle. So far, being outside is still okay.

If you really want a challenge, try reading the fine print on a can of spray paint.

Try going to an eye doctor before you self prescribe vision fixes.
I told my son this was a great topic but had not seen your snark at the time.

If you think a freaking magnifying glass is your solution to eye problems and my advice to see an eye Dr. is snarky you deserve what you get.
