I Got a Job!

I will run a tight dishwashing operation.

I will be early every day, I will go bus the tables when I am not washing dishes, and I will do other jobs to stay busy.

I will make myself irreplaceable by any damned robot.

:D

Never know, a company named Hobart might invent a machine to wash dishes some day.

That would be child's play when compared to their CNC's.

And there you have it...
Wonder how many years you could pay Jim for the price of that thing?

Why not just collect unemployment and leach off the suckers who have to work everyday? You are a dummy, Jim.

Washing dishes and busing tables is a job for a young man. You and I are much too old for that.
Well, I am physically able to do it, and I have no dignity or shame, so, I guess I am an exception to that general statement.

:)

This thread got me thinking about all the people we have doing volunteer work.
Being busy is often more rewarding than any financial rewards.

Do you wash clockwise or counterclockwise?
They use machines, you pre-rinse and toss 'em in the machine.

Well, except this is a Chinese restaurant. So they will cook on open flames and the bottom of the pots will be all carboned over. Then they set them on the greasy floor. Then they will throw the garden hose on the floor. Then they will throw the greasy carboned over garden hose IN the chicken soup pot. Right on in there. That's where the seasoning comes from.

that was my first job, when I was a kid. It wasn't easy. I had an Italian boss in a bar and grill, had to bus tables and wash dishes, and wear a damn bow tie doing it. It was a thankless job, they worked us like dogs for 3.35 an hour, with no breaks for 6 hours well maybe there was a 10 min break but I sure don't remember it now. We would fight over the little bit of juice left in the pineapple can,
The waitresses were hot but they cussed like sailors about their customers when they were in the back room. Darn I miss those days it was actually a lot of fun.

I will operate the machine, but no ANDROID will take my job.

:p

Youll still have to scrub the pots by hand

Over the years I have become fairly proficient at scrubbing pots at home, though I am sure the Restaurant pots are much larger even today.

Some people have a sense of pride that prevents them from ' leaching' off of others.
It makes me concerned about how well I will enjoy retirement if I dont work.

So I and my wife have plans to stay busy with the construction of a new house, God Willing, and vacations as often as possible, gardening, wood crafting and hiking.

Hope it pans out.

Do what you enjoy. That's how life should be.
I know a lot of retired people who work because they like being busy. :)
