Venezuela’s Legislators Offer Scorn as Trump Demands Obedience

The convening of the National Assembly made it clear that Maduro loyalists remain entrenched across Venezuelan institutions after decades of purges and crackdowns on dissent.

Fiery demands for the return of their captured leader, Nicolás Maduro. Fists in the air and victory signs in a show of defiance. Blistering attacks on President Trump.

Following a weekend of chaos in which the United States carried out airstrikes, killed dozens and seized Mr. Maduro, the Venezuelan National Assembly convened on Monday. It soon left no doubt that the head of the country’s revolutionary movement may have been removed, but his allies remain firmly in place — and in power.

Maduro loyalists are entrenched across the entire government, reflecting decades of ideological indoctrination, scorched-earth crusades against the opposition and purges of institutions that once had a semblance of independence and impartiality.

The Bolivarian political movement controlling Venezuela has prized belligerent rhetoric against the United States since Hugo Chávez rose to power nearly 30 years ago. On Monday, the passions on display in the legislature lay bare the challenge facing Mr. Trump as he demands that Venezuela turn into, in essence, a vassal state:

How can that be possible in a country where those still in power detest any sign of meddling by the United States?

One could say Maduro, and even Chavez before him, had done to VZ what trump is doing to the US. Installed intransigent, blind loyalists throughout the government. I assume many were given their positions based on sycophancy, not competence, as they have here. Remaining in their positions even as they failed the country, as they have here.

However, after living through the demise of the country due to repressive, undemocratic policies and economic mismanagement I suspect much of the population will embrace change. If not the way it was brought about.

“If we normalize the kidnapping of a head of state, no country is safe,” said Mr. Maduro Guerra, who is also named as a defendant in the U.S. indictment against his father.

They import 80% of their food.

It is time to take the L and give us what we want.

Trump knows that it is a waste of time to try and root out the Leftists in Venezuela that ruined the country, much in the same way he is unable to root out Leftists in the US institutions.

But what he can do is draw a line in the sand for despots like Maduro who openly defy international law and hold him to account.

It beats doing nothing at all, which is most often done and only encourages more of it.

So the COMMUNIST MADURO LOYALISTS are mad at Trump.

No
*******
Way!

AI Overview

Hawaii imports a vast majority of its food, with estimates consistently around
85% to 90%, making it heavily dependent on external sources for sustenance, a situation driving local efforts toward greater food security and self-sufficiency.

GFY.

Wait.........did you say openly defy international law?

IRONY ALERT!

Correct – this is how democracy dies and authoritarian regimes flourish, whether it’s Maduro or Trump.

Errr, yeah. And if someone else had control of their sea access so that food could not be imported, we would be in a very weak position and probably have to give them what they wanted, or face famine.

So.... what exactly do you think my point was?

Wow. Just wow. There is something wrong with you.

Trump just needs to find someone he can intimidate and/or pay off. He doesn't care if they're communist or Martian.

Everything he does started making sense when I remembered that his mentor was infamous mob lawyer Roy Cohn.

Putin is green with envy. His "give me what I want, or else" play blew up in his face.

And Xi is looking closely at Taiwan

Now that...........

Trump’s $100 Billion Venezuela Oil Plan Gets a Cool Reception

........what's a Dotard to do? Turns out, the oil companies aren't eager to make investments in the billions as trump claimed they were. The regime is going to have to keep its options open in deciding on a final narrative to justify spending billions of US taxpayer money to extract Maduro. So far none of the ones it has floated are working out.

My point stands. They are in a very weak position.
You don't still think Dotard's focus is making life better for Venezuelans do you? :auiqs.jpg:

It's funny that you pretend to care about this.

I mean, other than losing an ally, what is your interest here?

If Trump SUCCEEDED and did indeed make a lot of money for America and made Venezula a better place in the process,

you wouldn't care. You would still hate him. HELL, you would hate him MORE, because you hate America and something good for America, fills you with rage.

Yet, you are pretending to attack him on his plan not working, when you would hate for it to work.

Me? i don't care either. Plan works, plan doesn't work, I don't care either way. I have no hatred of the venezula people, but their fate is mostly up to them. NOt our problem.

So.... yeah.

According to your feminine superiority agendas, Renae was a super strong lesbian feminist who could beat the shit out of and kill of hundreds of people at a time. In reality, she is a parasite in socialism that takes more resources than someone who lives more responsible. And truthfully that is much of your side of the ledger. Woe to us if we do not right the ship.
