China is investing big in Africa for the same reason that other nations have for a thousand years. Exploitation. They are not going there for humanitarian reasons.

Be that as it is, business deals produce a win for both sides, so humanitarian or not, the African countries with whom Chinese businesses partner to do "whatever" still come out ahead. After all, the only reason any business is ever transacted is because a seller has found a way to fill a buyers need.
