Not great in all situations, I learned this the hard way.

Me and a buddy went bank fishing behind a hydro dam and had to cross a section of the river (knee deep) to get to an island in the middle.

Lost a Croc a couple times while crossing the current and had to chase them down in the current with one shoe on.

I would have thought that they would have worked well in the sand, sorta like sand shoes to keep you on top the sand.....I bet I did not have them on for a minute or two before I put them back in the truck.

I prefer old sneakers for fresh water wade fishing.....LOL, I repurposed many a K-Mart pair of "Tracks" for wade fishing in my youth.

I wasn't about to wear them until guys on the teams started wearing them after long rucks.

They're the best thing to wear after a 20 mile roadmarch.

They don't work well on deep sand.
They're mostly something to wear when you have foot problems.

I do sand/loose shell (surf) barefooted but not the creeks and the Shenandoah River.....Hell you are as libel to cut yourself on an old NA arrowhead as anything else in the creeks.

I grew up and spent most of my working career when a certain degree of professional business attire was expected of both men and women pretty much everywhere.

Crocs would not have fit into that for women, much less men.

I don't know about offices these days, but they are standard issue for Hospital staff now everywhere I've been.

IMHO anyone who walks on concrete floors daily should wear them (if safety allows) for their own health.

I see it as a common sense "lookin' out for you" type of thing.

Keeps the feet from freezing.
