Some would say it's the most nihilistic response from people when discussing major impending problems that this country faces......But is it really?
Consider this....You are 1/340 million people in the US. Your personal wealth that you could leverage for any meaningful change is a grain of sand on the beach.
Sure, you can spend your life angry, tilting at windmills and pretending that your outrage makes a difference... or you can enjoy your life the best you can and do your best to raise the best kids you can.
What exactly do you expect your "sacrifice" to change? Because unless you're some top-tier person in terms of wealth or power the minor ripples you create will fade away quickly.
The world is shitty because the vast majority of people are shitty and/or don't care. Your so-called sacrifice will very likely be futile, only serving for your own frustration and anger.
Do what you can for you and yours and if what you did suits you, then be happy with it. You did well.
