Hungary just made it a Consitituional violation to hold LGBTQ events there. They will track errant criminals vis face tracking technology. Thoughts USMB?

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s parliament on Monday passed an amendment to the constitution that allows the government to ban public events by LGBTQ+ communities, a decision that legal scholars and critics call another step toward authoritarianism by the populist government.

The amendment, which required a two-thirds vote, passed along party lines with 140 votes for and 21 against. It was proposed by the ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition led by populist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Ahead of the vote — the final step for the amendment — opposition politicians and other protesters attempted to blockade the entrance to a parliament parking garage. Police physically removed demonstrators, who had used zip ties to bind themselves together.

The amendment declares that children’s rights to moral, physical and spiritual development supersede any right other than the right to life, including that to peacefully assemble. Hungary’s contentious “child protection” legislation prohibits the “depiction or promotion” of homosexuality to minors aged under 18.

The amendment codifies a law fast-tracked through parliament in March that bans public events held by LGBTQ+ communities, including the popular Pride event in Budapest that draws thousands annually.

It would be unconstitutional in the United States, and I am not a fan of it.

But when a movement goes too far, they have to expect some form of backlash.

Thoughts? I think they are right not to celebrate mental illness, and to not want to see those freaks in public. Got an issue get a tissue

These leaders have to understand the line they are walking. Do NOT violate and suppress rights. Protect the vulnerable, always, but do not violate peoples expression.

It is freedom that has made America so desired. Anyone from anywhere who becomes an American can do so with freedom and liberty to create, innovate, love who they want, produce creative art, movies and music.

Abusing kids with issues well above their age is not the role of education and such social issues have no place. Adults wanting to hold a parade for instance among age acceptable participants (not kids), who cares? Let them be free to celebrate as long as they aren't breaking laws through nudity and other weird actions.

My hope is that Trump doesn't take the bait that some will dangle in front of him to undermine citizens rights, it will backfire and cost him the libertarian, Independent and many minority voters. Protect the vulnerable such as men in womens sports, but don;t cross the line that is your Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Hungary can do as they please but it harkens back to their old Eastern Bloc days, not a good look

The fascist right advances its agenda of bigotry and hate.

In the United States the fascist right will advance its agenda of bigotry and hate by seeking to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges and Lawrence v. Texas, allowing Republican controlled states to violate the equal protection rights of same-sex couples and criminalize being gay.

Fascism is leftist, you ignorant boob.

LOL.....I guess we can safely say that June won't be "Pride" month there. :laughing0301:

Seems to me all the money put into various "pride" month endeavors (hundreds of millions spent in corporate marketing alone) could be better spent treating mental health.

Yes you definitely say that.
Because it's true. All collective governments are leftist. The opposite of that is NO GOVERNMENT. So simple a moron can understand.

How is LGBTQ a mental illness?

Orban is an authoritarian and not a man to look up to.
I don't look up to him, however they have a right to self govern and LGBTQ is absolutely a mental illness it is abnormal behavior
