The United States is one of the richest countries in the world. We certainly have the room and the jobs.

Why are we closing our doors just when the world needs us the most? If not for the refugees, do it to help our allies who are going to end up taking all these people in. We should be shouldering our share of the burden.

I knew some old Italian women who translated for their oarents until they died. Them parents wven ran a bakery then candy store somehow since they lived in a barrio where little English was apparently spok in the 1920's

Many illegal aliens do want to assimilate, and most do as a matter of course if they stay long enough. That the government fails in its responsibility to prevent illegal crossing is a separate, though important, issue.
