Huge new Trump tariffs to slam Australia

In my Daily Telegraph today,

Trump's trade adviser Peter Navaro blames Australia for crushing US aluminium industry.
"The President says no more country exemptions, no more product exclusions...off we're going to run into a beautiful golden age."

in a separate interview on CNN, Mr Navarro similarly attacked Australia for "killing our aluminium market."

#####

Well there you go.

Some information.

Top 10 USA Aluminium Import Partners in 2024;

1. Canada $11.47 billion [40.68%]
2. China $3.07 billion [10.86%]
3. Mexico $1.84 billion [6.53%]
4. UAE $1.28 billion [4.5%]
5. Sth Korea $981.84 million [3.45%
6. India $820.54 milliom [2.9%]
7. Bahrain $726.23 million [2.55%]
8. Colombia $668.71 million [2.35%]
9. Germany $614.39 million [2.18%
10. Thailand $481.81 million [1.70%]

Australia not even in the top 10, yet gets blamed for crushing the US aluminium market.
Doesn't seem fair .

Australia will eventually kiss the ring and buckle under. Maybe even take a couple hundred thousand of our illegals off our hands.

Australia was a prison nation at one time, Trump's just Making Australia Prison Again.
MAPA?

And why does MAGA not want to honour the Free Trade Agreement it has had with Australia since 2005?
A great agreement it is, er...was. Killed by this tariff announced yesterday.
Everything was going along nicely. Free trade between the two allied nations.
"You buy some of my stuff, and I'll buy some of your stuff." $28 billion surplus in favour of USA.
Hardly Australia "ripping off" America...in the words of Mr President.
trade agreements mean nothing to the current administration. Canada and Mexico both had NAFTA. The current administration forced a new agreement in the first term. in the second term they tore it, their own agreement.

Yes, obviously trade agreements and 'favoured nation' status mean nothing to Trump admin.
No exemption for Australia, on go the tariffs and out goes the free trade agreement.
Down go the stock markets, up go the price increases for American consumers on products made from imported steel and aluminium.
There's only imported steel and aluminium because US doesn't/can't make enough of it.
No surprise, with coal demonised by the "climate change" green dreamers.

Anyway, Trump Admin has shown its colours...America first, and only?
America first is all good, the way it should be.
America only...is very
disappointing.
Seems the Judeo-Christian Western world is no longer an alliance, but a dog eat dog, every country for itself "battleground", with no country able to rely on another/ others for guaranteed help.
Even more disappointing.

Obviously everything is now a "Business deal".
Speaking of this new business deal culture, Australia just sold America a very large pile of gold, worth squillions.
Think I heard the expert on Sky News say that as a result Australia now has a trade surplus with the U S.
In bambuland, much of our economy is funded by digging stuff up and selling it.

What happened to the, para; "Australia is a great ally.
If you were a great ally, you wouldn't be dissing us with disrespect.

There's much outrage downunder today.
Trump's shining star suddenly got a lot dimmer in the eyes of many in Australia.
Fuck your outrage.

Anything Australia imports from America it can get elsewhere...
Except those great American goods.

There are many in Australia who'd be only too happy to embrace China
Go for it. Buy your cars, trucks and fruit from China. See what it gets you.

Trump/Washington's tariffs decision has today been labelled by many in Australia, including the govt, as "unjustified and unfriendly".

I would hang onto my underwear. I like Australia. For the most part, it is a great country and I used to consider them one of our best allies. Not so sure anymore. But nothing is over yet, I'm confident that when all is over, Trump will do the right things and Australia will remain a great friend.

I wish I were as confident.
Election mode for the 2028 US election starts in May 2027?
It's almost May 2025.
So Trump has 24 months plus April 2025 in power then he's gone from sight.

Not so sure?
We're not so sure about AUKUS, ANZUS, The Five Eyes Intelligence alliance, CIA base at Pine Gap in Australia's outback, and anything else.
Sky News headline just now "Trump's Brutal Lessons".
Then "Trump doubles down on making Canada America's 51st state".
Canada must be wondering what on earth is going on.
There's no way known to mankind that the British and French in Canada will let him have Canada...the only way he'll get Canada is by force, an invasion.

I would not count on that.

I'm not sure what Trump's strategy is here but I think I have an idea. As to what the French and British up there want, they have no say. When the right time comes, whatever Trump's plan is, I think he will make an offer Canada simply cannot refuse, and it will be as good a deal for Canada as it is for the USA.

Trump realizes that to be a secure nation, we NEED to manufacture our own steel, computers, etc. We simply cannot rely on other nations to provide us what we need.
This is lauditory, and why Biden had the CHIPS Act passed. Rando tariffs and threats don't appear to be an intelligent way to implement that. Ask Brazil and India.

Forcing manufacturing back into the country is working. The USA is not Brazil or India.

I would not count on that.

Oh, I hadn't thought about the fact that Canadians might want to be American.

No, it is not to any sense of successfully adjusting the trade deficit.

Mark Carney of Canada says he will kick Trump's economic butt. Believe it.
