It’s been about 2-3 months since the So Cal fire(s). So how’s the rebuilding process going? So far, the city of Los Angeles has approved four permits to rebuild homes in Pacific Palisades. That’s 4 of the nearly 7,000 homes destroyed.

As of last week, 72 owners had submitted rebuilding applications to the city, and another 135 to the L.A. County Department of Public Works for rebuilding in unincorporated areas impacted by the Palisades and Eaton fires.

Los Angeles approves just 4 permits to rebuild in Pacific Palisades after nearly 7,000 homes burned in wildfires

Paradise lost about 19,000 homes and buildings back in 2018. The mayor of Paradise has a message for residents of Pacific Palisades and Altadena: there is hope that they will be able to rebuild their fire-ravaged communities.

But it’s going to take decades, and the costs of reconstruction will skyrocket, possibly outpacing insurance.

Crowder said it will take 20 years to complete the rebuilding of Paradise, located 87 miles north of Sacramento.

Marijuana is legal in California. They should consider turning this land into a farm

I thought it was more like 11,000-12,000.

I did the math the other day. At the current pace, it will take LA around 497 years to OK all of the permits to rebuild in the Palisades. By then, half of the people living there will be dead (the other half will be on Social Security).

Newsom has ordered some studies on various wildlife species to make sure their habitat won't be disturbed during the rebuild. :113:

With only 4 permits being issued to rebuild, Gavin Newsom's plan Smart LA 2028 is on schedule...
