I may have been mistaken. I could have sworn I saw a pic of Trump with stitching on the inside of his right ear.
Theory being that when the Secret Service dragged him to the podium, he cut his ear on a lapel pin or earwig.
You can see on the vid tape the bullet clearly passes well behind him. When he's taken to the ground, there is no blood
on his ear. When he gets up...blood!
