How Was Your Halloween?

.

The hefeweisen was one of my brother's favorites. He was an amateur brewer and complained that he could never seem to get his hefeweizen quite right. Something about the kind of yeast, which wasn't easily available near my brother's zip code, or some such thing.

.
I love German Potato Salad too. They make it with vinegar and beef broth. No sugar.

The guy that cuts my grass for me came by with his daughter, but they were the only visitors that I got other than the plumber who came to work on my toilet.

God bless you and my company always!!!

I live on a rural road with a long driveway. No kid has ever come by and that's fine with us. The nearest town has activities for kids,

Halloween trick or treating has died out as a cultural custom.
We haven't had Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween in over 10 years.
The question is why has this custom died off?
When I was a kido in the 60s, Halloween was pandemonium excitement for kids.
Our neighborhood was crawling with a parade of kids.
We have become a fearful society. In large part, it's the aging out of the Boomers.

That being said, there are so many free events from 3 to 6pm--giving out candy and prizes..that most kids are totally content.

I try to keep the Satanic ritualistic sacrifices to a minimum.....but handing out candy to rot the kids teeth isn't a crime.
Trick or Treat!

His trick was doing his Biden going up the stairs imitation.

Who's going to let a five year old go house to house alone?
These days pretty much nobody anywhere. It is a much less safe world than when I was a kid. But the little ones can go with the bigger kids even here in Albuquerque so long as they stay in the more stable neighborhoods. The bigger kids probably get some pretty specific rules for safety now though. And usually the parents do accompany the little ones now.

Me and the Mrs. followed along with a flashlight. Our 16 year old could kick most adult's asses, but he stayed at his grandpa's to hand out candy.

Halloween is always quiet for me. Ronald Clark O'Bryan ruined it.
