How Was Your Halloween?

The town was decorated and lit up 50 fold compared to Christmas. Halloween has overtaken Christmas in that regard.

I remember when I was living in Heilbronn FRG and we'd go walking up on the vineyards above the town, and they'd have these Fall pressing laying next to the vines ready to turn back into the dirt. They were fermented and it would give you a buzz just smelling it.

I had a friend who had a plum tree that was enclosed by a fence in a small area, and as the plums ripened and dropped off and started to ferment, I'd get a buzz from sniffing while I was picking the plums still on the tree.

LOL, A good friend of mine was tasked with draining brandy barrels one day. This entailed removing the bung from the barrel with kind of cork screw type tool. The tool produced wood chips from the bung. He said he got so wasted from chewing on the wood chips that he could barely drive home. The brandy is diluted between the barrel and the bottle, so this was some pretty high proof stuff.

Everclear is a headache in a bottle for sure. I met a young guy from Scotland doing a work exchange back in the 70s. He was 18 and was always talking about American "piss" beer. We fed him some Everclear. The last time I saw him that night, he was praying to the porcelain god behind the garage. LOL. We are still good friends.

I love a good single malt on occasion, but I'm not much for blends. I was surprised to find out that Johnny Walker Blue Label was a blend at nearly $200 a bottle.
